What is the best sport car ever?

Q.

Answer
sports car... so it must be fast and good overall performance. A ford gt, I believe, is bad at handling bc it's so heavy, although it does have an established reputation.

For me, I'd go with a fast and light car with good handling. I'd go with Toyota Supra for a decently priced car. it's fast and has good handling. So you can turn corners fast! Because you know that no street race is a straight away. I also like the Porsche GT for the same reason as the supra.

For supercars, I like the Ferriari Enzo and the Bugattii. The Bugatti has 1001 horsepower! That's crazy.

Answer
It is hard to say who invented the "Sports Car", the Mercer Raceabout 35R (1912) is the earliest one that comes to mind. The idea of a sports car was to take every thing off the car that was not needed and sell it as a car. A frame with a platform for the seat, steering wheel up right and a gas tank. After all back when the only way to make a car sporty in performance was to just get rid of any extra weight.
I don't think in fact there have been any improvements. There have been a lot of the opposite, to where anything with a big engine and fancy body work make a sports car. The purest form in production today is the Miata. The most prized are nothing more then show horses that the owners are afraid to take out of the garage and have to keep armed guards around at all times.
No, it just does not get any better then a Mercer, or a Stutz Bearcat.
