Looking for 2010, 2011 or 2012 luxury car for around 30,000 with close to 40 mpg. My wife and I don't want to settle for a Prius or Civic, but we do want good MPG because we drive so much. Is this possible without spending too much more?

Answer
If you take a closer look at the Prius, you'll see that you aren't "settling". It has many of features only found in luxury cars. It's a mid-sized car, not a compact like the Civic, so room is not a problem.

Note that decent luxury cars start at about $45,000.

My 2004 Prius has cost 12 cents per mile for dealer maintenance, tires, and fuel combined over the 120,000 trouble-free miles I've driven it so far.

My 2004 Prius MPG from the logbook. (Complete years only):
2003-2004 -- 50.8 mpg 17,628 miles
2005 -- 52.6 mpg 14,688 miles
2006 -- 56.3 mpg 16174 miles
2007 -- 57.3 mpg 18384 miles
2008 -- 59.9 mpg 21755 miles
2009 -- 61.4 mpg 16177 miles
2010 -- 65.2 mpg 12134 miles

Why do luxury cars seem to devalue more quickly than most consumer cars?

Q. When I was car shopping a little while ago, I noticed that there were several used cars from high end brands like BMW and Infinity from 2005 and earlier that were very inexpensive compared to what they cost new, many were under $10,000 when they probably sold for around $40,000 new. Why is it that these cars tend to devalue more rapidly than normal cars?

Answer
because the resale market is alot smaller for luxury brands so they have to charge less to gain a bigger market

What is the lowst 18 year old male car insurance?

sports cars low insurance image

Sam

What is the lowest car insurance for an 18 year old male in Alabama?

I need info for sports cars and non sports cars.

Answer
Well, first off, Insurance rates vary from company to company, and no 2 people are alike, so this question can't be simply summed up with 1 quick easy answer Example: Joe Schmoe 18 years old, drives a sports car in Anytown, USA, and John Smith, 18 years old drives a different sports car, in othertown, USA, Both don't have any tickets or accidents and got their licenses about a year ago, Insurance rates would go like this: Joe Schmoe, Company 1 quote $570, Company 2 quote $683, and company 3 quote is $492, his best choice is company 3, obviously, while say you happen to be John Smith, And these are your quotes: Company 1, $733, Company 2, $398 and company 3 is $476, Company 3 was best for Joe Schmoe, but you, John Smith, Company 3, wouldn't be the best for you, you would want company 2. See where I am going? You will need to call all of the insurance companies individually and get a quote. Also, when you contact them, have vehicle information ready for them as they will need it because different vehicles cost different rates as well. I personally Insure through Geico, and I have 2 vehicles on my policy, and no accidents or tickets in the last 3 years am 28 years old, and my premium is just under $300 for 6 months (Less than $50/Month.) Look under the sources listed below for most of the major auto insurers and call, not go online because over the phone quotes are more accurate and have your driver's license ready when you call.

What is a good or ideal first car for a 16 year old?

Q. I would like it to look nice and not be ugly and get good gas mileage and have low insurance on it. I also do not want a sports car. (All vehicles would be good for suggestions). I am also a guy so yea and it would have to be used and my range is 5000 dollars. Thanks

Answer
hmmm maybe an old mustand like a '59, haha probably not practical, maybe like a used tahoe, real cheap I guess haha idk i am into expensive cars, i am so lucky my dad is in charge of buying my car, being his only child really helps out, NOW ONLY 2 MORE YEARS!(:

do you think they should ban this raw dangerous sport? I think yes, because I dont think this is going to be the last death we'll going to see if this sport continues

Answer
I don't think it should be banned at all. More people die in car crashes than sports and nobody screams ban cars. This was a careless mistake caused by the designer of the track. I'll grant Nodar was inexperience compared to others but he ha been training for over 4 years with no incident. I don't even want to watch the olympics because the lack of responsibility the committee is taking. All we need to hear is were sorry our track killed somebody. We make flaws to and we are sorryfor our mistake. But they take te cowards way out and not only disgrace Nodars name by saying he wa a crappy rider but insults every viwer out there by saying we never make mistakes. We are perfect. Why make changes after the fact an say your track wa perfect and safe. I it gouge to take another death on this course to wake up the committee?!? The track needs to be banned but not the sport itself.

What other cities rioted after the Stanley Cup Playoffs?

zoe

We couldn't have been the only ones upset after a big loss. Help me out, I feel like Vancouver's being victimized and I want to have something to say back to those hecklers!

Answer
Montreal by far leads the pack in hockey riots. They had riots in:

1955: Violence broke out in the streets of Montreal after star forward Maurice Richard was handed a stiff suspension. Richard broke his stick over a Boston Bruins player and hit a linesmen, causing the NHL to suspend him for all remaining games including potential playoff matches. Habs fans rioted in protest of the ruling, which many interpreted as a prejudicial decision based in part on Richard's francophone heritage. There were roughly 100 arrests and $100,000 worth of property damage during the riot.

1986 - Some 5,000 jubilant Montreal fans celebrating the Canadiens' Stanely Cup win over the Calgary Flames rampaged through the city's downtown. Officials were so poorly prepared that Quebec courts ruled police criminally negligent.

1993: Montreal's Stanley Cup victory over the Los Angeles Kings turned ugly when fans began vandalizing stores and setting police cars ablaze. Nearly 170 people were injured and more than 100 were arrested. The violence caused an estimated $2.5 million in damage.

2008: Cars were burned and downtown stores were trashed after the Canadiens beat the Boston Bruins to advance to the second round that season's playoffs.

2010: Looters smashed windows and clashed with police on Montreal's Ste-Catherine St. after the Canadiens defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins in the final game of the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs. At least 25 people were arrested.

Also in Edmonton:

2006: When the Edmonton Oilers clinched the Western Conference title and advanced to the Stanley Cup playoffs, fans began setting fires and looting along Whyte Ave. Police made about 15 arrests and reprimanded hockey lovers for partying irresponsibly. The Oilers went on to lose the final.

By the way, Boston Celtics (a strange sport called "basketball") fans rioted in 2008 after they won.

Can you tell me something about this car?

Q. I'm planning to purchase a new 2008 Mercedes CL600. I like it because it looks nice and sleek but I have no idea about cars. Is this car worth the price? Can you tell me about it? Money isn't an option here so if you have another nice luxury car recommendation, please do so.

Answer
Absolutely not!!!! That car is rediculously expensive. It's just the coupe of the flagship sedan. For that price you can get something extremely flashy and sexy like an Aston Martin vantage or even a bentley contiental GT! If price isn't an issue at all I would suggest the Bentley since it a similar to the Cl except much more desireable! Rolls Royce came out with a nice looking Coupe convertible. The Cl is a nice car for sure but it's just not that special. There are many other more desireable cars in the 100 thousand dollar plus range.
my picks
-Any Aston Martin
-Audi R8
-bentley continental (top pick since it is a similar to what you are looking at)
-Mercedes SLR Mclaren
-Porsche 911 Turbo

From 2000 onwards to present I have the statistics for ilegal immigrants but its very very hard to find any before 2000...Im writing about illegal immigration and I need a buildup so I thought I'll write about the history of illegal immigration

I need statistics from 1900s onwards

Answer
I do not believe there was illegal immigration in the 1920s.

Most immigrants arrived by ships and were processed through Ellis Island.

Immigration from Cuba, Mexico and Central America was open so there was no illegal immigration from this area as anyone that came from this area was allowed into the U.S. legally. There were few restrictions on Canadians.

Illegal immigration probably did not occur until 30-40 years ago.

Illegal immigration became a problem when most people could afford cars and plane travel was no longer a luxury.

Is there any way to do this? They completely screwed me. I traded a 2010 Prius for an 07 Audi a3 it's nice and fast but the sticker on it had the wrong mpg on it, they listed it For 30mpg when it really only gets about 18 and I really regret and miss it. They have my car listed on their site for 19,000 already andthe one I got Off their site was listed at 12,000. I was pressured. Get it the very next day with the tricks of it won't be here tomorrow someones coming to look at it now. Is there anything I can do?? All I did was to Google the vehicle to find this information. You were not screwed and the estimated MPG is posted online for anyone to find it. Your words, "nice and fast." When you drive "nice and fast" then not matter what the estimated MPG is indicated online, on the sticker, etc. goes out the door. I know how to drive a Prius to get 19 MPG. I also know how to drive a Prius to exceed the posted MPG. I have a 2008 Mercury Mariner hybrid and the estimated MPG is about 30 MPG. Last night on a 10 mile run, I recorded 38.2 MPG. What you are experiencing is called Buyer's Remorse. It is a classic human characteristic. If you went into this dealership unarmed, uninformed and with googly eyes towards a luxury brand vehicle, an Audi, then you, as the person in control of your destiny, made a decision and signed a sales contract. A contract is final when signatures are placed on the paper. Very sorry that you feel this way but a 2010 Prius is THE MPG champ on the market and obviously you were bored with the slow go performance and wanted more Umph! in your driving time. So, you got the Umph! and now you need to learn how to operate this car efficiently. But it is not a Prius. Nothing is. These are hard lessons to accept but what is done is done. There is absolutely nothing you can do but relax and get to appreciate the car in your garage or parking spot. Remember, anytime you go against a professional without proper defensive shields operating, you shall lose the match. So, have the Audi checked out at a mechanic since apparently you did not do that before the sale. This car is in the 70,000 mile range and maybe in need of a schedule service. This is a nice car and it is quite a step up in quality, performance and status from the Prius. I have owned a 2001 Audi TT Roadster since 2002. It took me three years to find it. I still have and it is a great source of fun and driving enjoyment. I use the ECON mode of the AC to save about two to three MPGs. I drive steady at 60 MPH on cruise to minimize fuel usage. I park quickly and away from other cars and I have zero dings on the car. I look ahead to coast to a stop and unless I have it at the MId-Ohio track taking lessons it is driven in moderation. I get comments all of the time. In fact, your A3, with 200 HP and 207 ft-lb. of torque can beat my car with 180 Hp and sub 200 ft-lbs. of torque. Oh, rather than premium fuel, I have used regular for over 10 years without any ill effects. I use synthetic blend engine oil and I have it serviced every six months. It is all original except for an alternator and one coil. Of course, shocks and struts are changed at 50,000 to 70,000 miles. And everything works except for the worthless headlight washer system. I took that out as the left side kept breaking for a reason Audi mechanics could not, or would not, locate. Best of luck.

What should I get a 2007 Cadillac CTS or a 2008 Jee Wrangler X?

Been looking for a new car found a 2007 cadillac with 30,000 miles for $14,000 and a 2008 Jeep Wrangler X with 50,000 miles for $17.000. I live in Michigan so the four-wheel drive of the wrangler would be nice for the snow, but the CTS gets much better mpg.

Answer
Go with the Caddy! The CTS is a powerful, American made luxury sedan that's comfortable, handles well, and turns heads everywhere it goes. The price you stated is pretty good, and with regular maintenance and upkeep, your Caddy should keep you happy for quite some time!

also, which gas stations are the best to buy from? I usually buy chevron or shell.

Answer
What you are reffering to is called the OCTANE a measure of the autoignition resistance of gasoline (petrol) and other fuels used in spark-ignition internal combustion engines.

Octane is measured on a scale of 0-100. In America, you are probably used to seeing 87 (regular) , 89 Premium and 93 Ultra.
These are just marketing terms used for people who are not educated about the gasoline refinery grades.

To make it simple for you, Octane ratings point to the amount of "knock" expected from the engine's burning of the fuel.
Engine knocking is compression detonation of fuel in the power stroke of the engine. Knocking occurs when the air-fuel mixture autoignites all at once (or sometimes perhaps when the flame front goes supersonic because of early ignition timing), before the flame front from spark plug ignition can reach it. The explosive reaction causes combustion to stop before the optimum timing, causing a decrease in performance. A fuel with a high autoignition temperature that burns reasonably fast and thus does not need early ignition timing will most often have high practical value knock resistance. Ethanol is such a fuel.

Basically the higher the octane, the lower the KNOCKING and the more combustible the fuel.

NEwer fuels such as ETHANOL E85 are composed of 85% Ethanol and 15% gasoline.
Ethanol which is an alcohol has higher octanes than similar gasolines, less knock and burns cleaner and cooler than gasoline BUT, since Ethanol is corrosive it damages car's fuel lines that can't resist its properties of corrosion.
That is why your current gasoline is only mixed with 10% ethanol rather than 85%. E85 is coming to most cities in the next 5 years.

Airplane fuel for military jets is of the highest octane because it must be volatile enough so that the engine won't "flame-out" in combat manuevers.

Some cars such as luxury sports cars and luxury SUV's require no less than 93 because they require a fuel that burns quickly, and in its entirety with no knock. Take for example a RR Phantom. If you use that car with 87 Octane, you will hear the engine knocking and eventually you will damage the engine.

Super Luxury cars such as the Bugatti Veyron require no less than 97 Octane (Racing Fuel) which costs $8 a gallon.

I'd say the best gaoline stations to buy from are BP, EXXON, SHELL, and HESS. These are well-known, trustable gasoline marketers who are more likely to sell you what you pay for than to try and rip you off by adding water to your gas or selling you false octanes.

What kind of milage are you getting on your 4cyl Volvo 740?

frozenblue

I've got a the 1990 GL with the Volvo (non ZF) transmission and I'm averaging 20 running midgrade with half highway driving and half regular stop and go driving. I try to drive as efficiently as possible, distant braking, slow steady accel., right turns instead of left, etc. I'm just wondering if Anyone is getting better milage. I ran E85 and was getting 18mpg, which doesn't cut the 30cents difference in pricepergallon versus regular gas.

Answer
These Volvo 740's are excellent cars in terms of build quality, durability, and dependability, but one thing they are not is fuel efficient. We have had 3 Volvos in our family, all with the same 2.3L 4cyl. engine, and they were all pretty hard on gas. My '85 240 averaged 21mpg, my Mom's '89 740 turbo averaged about 18mpg, and her current '95 940 averages about 20mpg, all with a mix of about 70/30 city/highway driving. That seems to be one main downfall to the good old Volvos. They guzzle gas for 4cyl. powered cars. Even considering their size and weight, the similar size and weight of a Ford Taurus or Chevy Lumina (both with V6 engines) achieve similar, if not slightly better, economy ratings. Volvos have never been known to be fuel efficiency, but they are one of the few foreign luxury cars that are designed to run on 87 octane, expect for the turbo models.

What are high paying jobs in the automotive field?

sports cars around 25k on Final attempt to stop incinerator as 25k raised to hire top ...
sports cars around 25k image

Three55

I love working on cars. And I also love high end exotics like Ferrari, Lamborghini, Lexus(LFA), etc.
What kind of jobs give good pay or atleast enough in the automotive field to afford a exotic plus a decent life. I mean I don't want to drive a Ferrari and live under a bridge.

I know how to fix basic things on cars(I'm a freshman in highschool) and I love upkeeping/detailing cars. I'll eventually learn the bigger things like engine repair, transmission rebuild, collision repair etc.

I mean can owning a dealership that sells around 6-10 cars a month with $500-2000 profit make around $100k or more a year? I live for cars and just don't have the mindset of being a doctor or something. I can't spend a day without seeing atleast 1 car of any sort. Picture form or in person.

Answer
Sorry to burst your bubble, but the guys that drive exotics aren't in the automotive field. They are investment bankers, sports stars, CEOs or celebrities.

The math just doesn't work. First, owning a car dealership involves several hundred thousand dollars (minimum) start-up capital - and that's cash (you need to borrow more than that). Guessing you don't have that. Also, when you say $2000 profit on a car (which is a reasonable assumption), you're forgetting you've got to pay overheard on the dealership, staff and just everyday expenses. You'd go bankrupt in a hurry at 10 cars a month with $2000 profit each. More like 10 cars per day........but there is still that problem of rounding up a few hundred thousand in cash in upfront capital, plus having the credit for loans for the rest of it. Even assuming you had your own dealership, while it can provide a good life, it still won't be Ferrari good.

For a $250K exotic (which is on the low end for your list - maybe a Lambo Gallardo, but that's about it), you better have income of at least half a mil a year. Same ratio as a guy making $50K buying a "regular" $25K car. There is no job in the auto industry short of CEO or other top exec that provides that kind of coin. You'll need to set your sites higher.

Good luck!

There are lots of antique car auction, the biggest being Barret-Jackson, know as The Greatest Car Show on Earth.

It's televised on The Speed Channel.

Auctions held in Scottsdale; Palm Beach, and now Las Vegas.

The DuPont Registry, usually available right next to that auto trader magazine at 7-11, list exotic & luxury autos.

Hello. My husband and I currently rent a 1 bedroom apt in Hollywood, CA. Currently we pay $1250 just for rent and then of course there are bills on top of that. We are living check-to-check. We want to be able to set aside more money for savings every month. Come June, my husband will be taking online classes. I am self-employed and can work from anywhere. He is studying for an Entertainment Business degree and I also work in music. Being in Los Angeles is great for the entertainment industry, but I just don't know if it's worth it right now. I'd like us to move somewhere where the cost of living is lower and who knows, maybe we can move back after a couple years once hubby finishes school and everything. We have a few items that would require shipping were we to move out of state. We have two cars and would want to ship or drive at least one of them. We have a couple furniture items that we would want to take but most things could be sold and re-purchased. So the question is, where is the most practicle place to move to? My original thought was Florida. But recently I've been thinking it may be better to move somewhere closer where we can drive to so we don't have to pay to ship the car. So I thought of Arizona. But neither of us have ever been there! Phoenix..Scottsdale..Tuscon..where would we even begin? I love the fact that 2 bedroom luxury apartments there go for about $500 less than what we are paying now. I am thinking about making a trip out there but don't even know what city to start with. I'm also open to other suggestions like elsewhere in California... Nevada.. or even a further away state if it makes sense. I know that weather-wise we have it made in southern California, but I have lived here my whole life so I am open to trying something new and that won't hold me back. Just a few things to consider about us : We are a young couple (22 years old) and we are into music and we are Christians. We don't like living in the heart of a big city but having one near-by would be great as I don't think either of us are small-town people. So if anyone has any input on where we should move this June, I would highly appreciate anything that can help me get started planning this out!! haha thanks =)

Answer
You'll find that the grass is not necessarily greener on the other side of the state line.

One thing about moving to another area is that will be most likely be fewer jobs, less entertainment, and the weather will be less pleasant.

You might want to try the high desert, like Hesperia or Apple Valley, to see if that suits you.

What are some good sports cars by Lexus, BMW, and Nissan that aren't too expensive?

Besides the Lexus LFA, what is some good sports car models that are under 30k?

Answer
Lexus only has that one sports car (which you won't get for 30K), Nissan has just one, the 350/370Z, and BMW has the Z4 or the Z3 before it.

You can probably get a nice 370Z for under 30K - that's your best bet.

If you could get any sports car under 30k, what would it be?

And why? not some gas saving car like that, like the sickest sports car under 30k.

Answer
A used Corvette. Not the newer type, Something from the 1980's back to the early 1970's (just that range to keep it under $30,000). The best sport cars built. Reliable engines and and under gear and easy to get parts for. They are built tough. Not something that always needs tinkering like the imports do.
They are a great and readily available that is easy and cost effective to own. More time on the road / less in repair time.
