Easiest way to get/steal a sports car (Legal, illegal, doesnt matter)?

Q. As topic says, I'm fully sane, nothing wrong with my brains but the one thing I want to do before dying is driving a super sports car for a day. I don't care if it's illegal or legal, I'm just reviewing my alternatives here and not saying that I WILL do it for sure. Please do not comment if you don't have anything valuable to say, I wish that your comments ONLY include information on how I could do what I'm asking for.

Thank you,
P.S I don't live in the US since I got my student visa denied last semester

Answer
There are rental companies which specialize in renting out sports cars. Don't know where you live and don't care but just google sports car rental. And FYI, it is inappropriate to solicit advise for illegal activities/acts on Yahoo! Answers. It is a violation of the community standards.

why isnt racing under Sports ?? Why is it under cars and transportation ?? You do know that it IS a sport ....

Answer
I actually believe that Racing has been misplaced in it's catergory. Here is Webster's definition of sports: 1 a : a source of diversion : RECREATION b : sexual play c (1) : physical activity engaged in for pleasure (2) : a particular activity (as an athletic game) so engaged in
2 a : PLEASANTRY, JEST b : often mean-spirited jesting : MOCKERY, DERISION
3 a : something tossed or driven about in or as if in play
As you can see Racing is considered a sport.

How are some people who own luxury homes able to afford them/?

sam j

I live in a very big city. There are a nice handful of upscall, street and subdivisions in my area. Home in those neighborhoods ranging from $ 300,000.00 to $ 5,000,000.00 I know not all those people are wealthy some are yound, some older people, my English 4 teacher drives a 2004 lexus rx suv and resides in a gated community in a $ 400,000 plus homes with her husband. How are people able to afford homes like this? I would really like to know.

Answer
It is not true that only doctors and lawyers can afford those homes.

It really has to do with how long you've been a homeowner, and what market you've come from.

I hope no one misreads this as bravado or bragging.. I'm just trying to illustrate a point. It's possible to own an expensive house and an expensive car, as long as you are smart about the purchases, and save for them.

I lived in NYC for 30 years. My first house cost $35,000 in 1978. I sold it for $400,000 in 1995. I bought a house in NJ for $400,000, and sold that in 2004 for $800,000. My $1M house I own now has NO mortgage on it. Although the taxes are numbing ($12,000 a year), I dont have any other debt for my home. I also have owned 1-2 year old high end vehicles (BMWs and Lexus) after the biggest depreciation is already out of them. So I pay for a BMW (as a certified pre-owned) what someone pays for a new Buick, only my car wont depreciate as fast. I do a reverse car loan too. I save the money I would have to pay on a car loan BEFORE I buy a new car, so I have no car loan when I buy it. And I only buy it when I need it and can afford it.

Now my son just bought a house in Charlotte, NC. He and his wife saved every penny they could for three years to afford a down payment, and they were lucky to get in at a time the builders were looking for help, so they got a great deal. They bought a $350K home with 20% down. How many people do that these days?

So it's silly to BLAME success as being only the child of a couple of professions, illegal activities or inheritance. There is a lot to be said for saving, living within your means, timing, and a bit of good luck.

I wish you Good Luck in the New Year.

What is a luxury car appropriate for a 17 year old?

Q. I am writing a story where the main character is a foster child who has been shunted from home to home. All her parents were rich. I want her to have a very nice car. Originally it was a ferrari but I thought that was a bit much. Any suggestions?(must come in a covertible model)

Answer
She's a girl ? I suggest drive cars like BMW 3 Series or a Mercedes-Benz E Class Coupe or Infiniti G37.A Ferrari is too hard to drive for a girl, especially when shes a new driver (since shes 17).Those cars I mentioned before are easy to drive and easy to take care. The Infiniti has light steering wheel which I think is perfect for girls. While the BMW and Mercedes are a bit heavier for the steer, but it delivers better feels for the driving.

Is a '98 dodge neon sport a good car?

T

im looking to buy and i found a used one in good condition. from your experience, are they good cars.
do they get dented easily?
do they drive smooth?
do they play a cassettes or cds

anything u know about them would be great! thanks :]

Answer
Dodge Neon is basic transportation. It is the least expensive American car make.

Go to the library and read Consumer Reports guide to used cars for reliability data.

However, a 1998 car is over 10 years old. If you know and trust the seller, it could be a good purchase, but steer clear from street dealers or used car dealers unless you can get a good mechanic to check it out. The fact that it lasted this long is a good sign, but a car that old could die any day or last another 5 years. If you need a good reliable car for long distance travel, try to get a newer, bigger car, since it will be safer.

For short commuting, or for a station car, as long as your mechanic checks it out, it should be fine.

Anyway it should be cheap enough that junking it won't kill you. A 1998 Neon should be under $1500.

Check the Kelley Blue Book for more information - kbb.com.

You might also want to consider purchasing a car fax from carfax.com.

is a 1996 dodge avenger sonsidered a sports car?

Jessica G

Answer
I owned a 1999 Chrysler Sebring LXi and it's the luxury equal to the Dodge Avenger, but my insurance car did not place it in either the luxury category or the sports car category. I paid pretty cheap rates on the car.

I would ,however, consider the Dodge Stealth to be a true sports car. Especially the R/T models.

were i can find the infernus in gta 4?

Ricardo D

were i can find the sport´s cars in gta 4

Answer
This is probably the rarest and hardest to get car in the entire game. You probably will not even see one until you are 1/2 to 2/3 through the game. Around then, you will be doing a few missions for Bernie, when you complete the last one, he will give you one. After that, you might see them but probably only when you're driving the one you have.

Around the same time or a little later than Bernie, you'll be introduced to Stevie (Brucie's friend) who asks you to find cars for him. One of the cars Stevie wants will be the Infernus and as with all of Stevie's requests there is one specific location for each car. A trick (not really a cheat, just a weirdness of the game) is if you find any of the cars that Stevie requests, but instead of delivering it to him, you park it in one of your private parking spaces, then go into your safehouse and save the game, you'll be able to keep the one you parked/saved, and the original one Stevie asked for will be re-spawned at the original location where you found it the first time. This is one way to collect your favorite cars :)

Other than those two ways, I don't know of any guaranteed ways or places to find or get the Infernus.

GTA 4 Where can I find a "Old beater"?

Chris

Hi

GTA 4

In which city and what part of that city is the best place to look for a Old Beater, you know, a rusted out peace of $hit that back firers.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqa2DdAVZiM&feature=PlayList&p=69C059E7608ACC82&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=4

In my mind this is the best kind of car in the game, it so entertaining to drive.

Fast sports cars are all the same and the "so called one of best cars in the game" the one with lambo doors handles like $hit

Thank you

Answer
I don't know of any "sure" location to find them, but the old beaters like the one in the video or other similar ones, tend to be found in the crappier parts of town, for example in the Broker area where Jacob lives, or in the industrial parts of Alderney.

That could be Volkswagon, Mazda, Subaru etc.

hello. a 'sporting economy car' to hold its value in America, it'd be a Volkswagen, or Toyota, or Nissan, or Honda, or et al. no american cars included, not since the Pinto/Vega days, mid 70s. for myself, it I was making that same search, I'd learn toward a Toyota, own a corola myself, bought it used in 2004, a used 2003. good luck with your choices. : }

Alot of people think that Las Vegas Is Alot Of Fun, But here Temperatures hit 112 Degrees Celsius in winter. I'am Not Old Enough to go to NightClubs, and casinos.I Did all the Tourist Activities, And Now i'm Just bored out of my mind. Please Help! Does anyone Know Of things to do that are at low Cost?

Answer
Hi Ryan,
There is lots to do in Las Vegas besides the casinos.

Visit Hoover Dam and Lake Mead. At Lake Mead, you can scuba dive into a real sunken town, ride a paddle wheel boat or take in the sun. There are water sports, boating, fishing, marinas and ferries.

The Southern Nevada Zoological-Botanical Park, informally known as the Las Vegas Zoo, has three acres and 150 species of plants and animals. The park includes a small gem exhibit and a gift shop. Exotic chickens and peacocks roam freely on the grounds.

Lehman Caves is a set of remarkable limestone caverns in Great Basin National Park near Las Vegas. Daily vacation tours are available all year.

Shopping is part of a Las Vegas vacation, too. At Planet Hollywood you'll find the Miracle Mile Shops. Across the street, the Forum Shops at Caesars offer lots of top-tier brand name stores. Around the Venetian canals are shops, and nearby is Barney's New york and Palazzo. Fashion Show Mall is across from Wynn Las Vegas.

Bonanza Gift Shop is a landmark located on the Las Vegas Strip between the Sahara Hotel and Casino and the Stratosphere Las Vegas. It calls itself the World's Largest Gift Shop with over 40,000 sq.ft. of space.

GameWorks, the famous entertainment chain, is a giant arcade with 250 interactive video games including pool, sports and dances. GameWorks entertainment complex is in the Showcase mall next to MGM Grand.

Pole Position Raceway lets you race miniature electric cars competitively on an indoor track.

At Las Vegas Motor Speedway you can drive a real 600-horsepower stock car at the Richard Petty Driving Experience, or ride shotgun with a professional driver.

Take a ride to the Valley of Fire, 50 miles NE of Vegas, a breathtaking natural wonder and state park. The Valley of Fire is world renowned for its beautiful rock formations and red sand. You can rent a dune buggy, take a guided buggy tour, go by helicopter, or hike. It is also one of the top off-road riding areas in the United States. Trekkies will recognize many of the early Star Trek sets here.

Indoor sky diving sounds impossible, but not in las Vegas. On Convention Center Drive, Vegas Indoor Skydiving lets you feel what it is like to float, hover and fly in a stream of air. Instruction and guides are available. You might have seen this on TV.

Las Vegas Springs Preserve has desert gardens, hiking trails, live desert animals, and experiences of the people, animals and culture of the Mohave Desert. The Nevada State Museum is on site.

Red Rock Canyon is a spectacular natural vista.

Las Vegas hosts the popular annual Helldorado Days, or Rodeo Days, a cowboy festival, parade, carnival and a professional rodeo.

Old Las Vegas Mormon Fort, built by early Mormons in 1855, has been restored in Downtown.

The Atomic Testing Museum tells the history of nuclear testing at the Nevada Test Site. There are testing devices and pop culture from the period. In the Ground Zero Theater you can watch a simulated nuclear test.

The Liberace Museum is 5 minutes east of McCarran Airport, with souvenirs of the piano genius celebrity.

The Pinball Hall of Fame has over 100 working and playable pinball machines, and historical exhibits.

During the winter months, there's skiing at Mt. Charleston.

I hope you have a very happy day.
My source has lots more about Las Vegas.

Is the Hyundai Genesis Coupe a sports car?

Ryno

I'm wondering because if it is, then I can't get that because of insurance. I'm looking at several cool cars, but I have to avoid cars that are counted as sports cars because of insurance.

Answer
Yes, it is a sports car, you might try a sport sedan like the maxima instead or call some insurance companies and see if they would cover you for the genesis coupe. Sedan's like Mazdaspeed3/6, EVO, WRX are considered sports cars too.

What's your favorite sports car?

bballlover

What's your favorite kind of car? I'm looking to upgrade my car, I'm 17. I can spend at the most around $7,000. So far I like RX8's. I need ideas on what to buy. Most things don't matter but I do need a 4 seater. Let me know! Thanks!

Answer
A TRUE Sports Car would be a 2-seater, usually with a removable top. Anything with 4 seats would be a sports coupe or sports sedan.

My favorite Sports Car has always been the Chevy Corvette, but those are a bit out of your price range, and even if you could find one, the cost of insurance for a 17 year old driver would kill you..

There's lots of nice, used cars out there for around $7000. I'd suggest you get away from your computer and spend some time checking out the local used car lots to see what's out there.

Luxury cars and gas price?

Miss S

Is there ant correlation between the two? What kind of regression model if i am investigating this topic for my economic paper?

Answer
people who buy luxury cars are not very affected by gas prices, the cost of the car is much more than the increase cost of gas. we should raise the gas tax to reflect the full societal cost of using that gas

Do luxury cars have good gas mileage and last long?

iTech17

I was looking for a car for the max price of $5000 and is a good car for starters and I saw Mercedes Benz and jaguar and Acura and etc.. Are there any good luxury car brands that last long.l I'm looking at used cars so it would help of you tell me which year I should look into, thanks.

Answer
By the time any of these cars get down to the 5000 dollar price range they will have already lived their design life expectancy. Parts will be expensive and difficult to find. More so with the cars that originate in Europe. Buyers of luxury cars tend to trade more often, so the car makers are only worried about the car lasting through two owners. They also tend to be "loaded" and those accessories are a big source of trouble.
Of the ones you mention Acura would be the best to purchase. It shares a lot of parts with the cheaper models made by the same company. Lexus is another one that should have better support.
But cars by Benz, BMW and Jag often do not have very many parts that are found on other cars. Some years of Jag do have a lot of Ford parts. But Jag just could not get with the Ford engineering model. They (Jag) want a car that needs a factory trained mechanic to keep it running and Ford Motor Company thinks warranty costs for repairs are avoidable when a car is built right.
If you are not down on American products consider a Mercury or Lincoln.

Should US government take back $1/2 billion loan to German car maker for making cars in Finland?

Deep End o

Henrik Fisker promised to build an electric car in the USA and received a $500 million loan from the Energy Department (a.k.a. the U.S. tax payer). The Obama Administration heralded the loan as a boost to U.S. jobs. Now Fisker is building the cars in Finland.

http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/car-company-us-loan-builds-cars-finland/story?id=14770875

Answer
The loan was made in 2009, and is for the development of a family car, the Karma sports car being assembled in Finland has little to nothing to do with the loan.

And Fisker is an American company, not German, in fact, they have facilities in Michigan, where I live, so they at least create some jobs here, where they are sorely needed. They have also created jobs in Delaware, and more will be created when the loan is used to build the planned family sedan here in the US.

I would certainly be happier if they also decided to build all their cars here, and I intend to write them. They should indeed be embarrassed by this. My state badly needs these jobs.

But this behavior is hardly unprecedented. All American car companies build many their cars out of the country. Frankly, tax laws encourage this. Laws that need to be changed. This is where your anger should be directed. Of course American car companies build cars in foreign countries if it saves money.

If it's the loan that bothers you, it's a much bigger question than just electric cars. Why do we subsidize oil companies to the tune of billions of dollars every year? Most petroleum companies aren't even American companies.

Buddhist: Karma from past lives affecting this one?

Born Again

Anyone have first hand experience as a practitioner of Buddhism?

Answer
I have seen many instances of what MIGHT have been karma. But understand that we carry karma from previous lives, and since we do not know our previous lives (or the previous lives of others) it's usually impossible to say that something that happens IS karmic.

Karma = imprint. Everything you do, every second you are alive, either sets new imprints into you or strengthens already-existing imprints. An imprint that has become strong is a habit.
We ARE our karma. And so when we move on to our next live, it is us that moves on (our karma).
Since karma = US, and since WE make ourselves (our karma), other people will react to us as we are (according to our imprints/karmas). And circumstances are supposedly drawn to us. Like attracts like, and our imprints determine what kind of life we are drawn to when we are going to our next life.

Understand that we create positive imprints within us as well as negative imprints. "Good" karma as well as "bad" karma. All acts of unselfishness and generosity and compassion draw positive people/things to us. And all acts of selfishness, stinginess, and cruelty draw negative people/things to us. Thoughtless acts (including thoughtless acts during while we are drunk or stoned) can, theoretically, draw us to rebirth as a thoughtless being (a mentally-handicapped person or an animal).

There is, however, one anecdote I have from my sister's life, and it is such a phenomenal story that it is hard NOT to say it was her karma operating:
In the 1960's, folk music was hot and everyone who could had a guitar to strum and sing along with their friends. I was in high school and I didnât have a guitar but my sister, who was working her way through university, had a cheap guitar she would let me borrow. It had a tinny sound and the strings bit painfully into your fingertips when you chorded ... but it was a guitar.
Christmas came and my sister had no money to buy gifts. So she gave me her guitar. She had tears in her eyes, partly because she was so happy to give me something I wanted so much, but also because it was her own guitar she was giving away.
Six months later, she was walking down the sidewalk when she walked by some guy loading up his car. He was moving, driving 3000 miles across-country, and he could only take what would fit into his little MG sports car. His guitar did not fit in. He asked my sister if she would take it ... for free.
Of course she would. She took the guitar home and when she opened up the case, it was a Martin Classical guitar, with soft nylon strings that never bit into fingertips and the sweetest richest dulcet sound youâve ever hear. Today, that guitar would be worth over $4000.

I told this story not too long ago to a friend who is a professional musician. When I told her that the guitar was a Martin, her eyes opened really wide and she said almost in a whisper of awe, "A Martin? He GAVE her a MARTIN?" And then she let her breath out and shook her head.

looking for a cheap used sports car?

aquadancer

im looking for a nice sports car, lamborghini look-alikes, or anything that is kind of like that. something verry cheap, around 5000 or less

Answer
You want a cheap sports car? You're better off looking for conversion kits. You won't find a Lambo type car for the price range you're looking for. Not unless you find a junker that will cost more to fix than the car is worth.

I've seen people change a Fiaro into a Ferrari. Of course the change was cosmetic, but there is a lot you can do to change the guts of your car. Research kits for different car types and then look at what parts on the kit car that can be upgraded to make the car put out some serious horsepower.

You will find that that speed is very achievable with many cars that can be kitted. Look at tuner cars. An early nineties model Civic can be upgraded to go over 140MPH.

To answer your question, good luck on finding that exotic sports car for the price you're willing to pay.....unless you want a junked out servicable Porche. Many people sell those things for lower end prices.

why is the delorean a sports car?

Oku24

What details make the delorean a sports car???

Answer
A sports car is a term used to describe a class of automobile. The exact definition varies, but generally it is used to refer to a low to ground, light weight vehicle with a powerful engine. Most vehicles referred to as sports cars are rear-wheel drive, have two seats, two doors, and are designed for more precise handling, acceleration, and aesthetics. A sports car's dominant considerations can be superior road handling, braking, maneuverability, low weight, and high power, rather than passenger space, comfort, and fuel economy.

We have to keep in mind when the original Delorean was manufactured. This was in 1981-1982. During that time, there was very little performance in any car. Fuel economy laws and environmental impact laws never mind a gas crisis made it hard for any manufacturer to have performance in their cars. The Corvette in 1981 had only 190 horsepower. The 1981 Porsche 911SC had only 204 horsepower. The 200hp Delorean (Euro-spec) was right in the mix with some of the best sportscars of the time. (US cars were delivered with 170hp due to catalytic converters that the Euro cars did not require). It's handling was also on par with the better sportscars of the era as well.

The Delorean was considered a sportscar because it was low to the ground, it was a two seater and it had considerable performance for cars at that time. And the Gull wing doors were really really cool for a car built in the 80's.

The 80's sucked for sports cars.

I want to know about the best sport car in the world and why it is the best.

Answer
Your sports car.Muahahaha!

The best sports car is actually the Chevrolet Corvette.Simply because it offers the best of both worlds: Power and handling that are usually reserved for luxury sports cars, and a price tag that doesn't suck the breath from one's chest. Reviewers from all corners of the world love its sleek looks and the way the Corvette moves. Its performance is on par with sports cars costing nearly three times as much, making it ideal for those who thrive on the open roads but also like to have money left to spend on other things. The Corvette is the car that all others are hoping to beat in 2007.

Answer
Ferrari S.p.A. is an Italian sports car manufacturer based in Maranello and Modena, Italy. Founded by Enzo Ferrari in 1929 as Scuderia Ferrari, the company sponsored drivers and manufactured race cars before moving into production of street legal vehicles in 1947 as Ferrari S.p.A.. Throughout its history, the company has been noted for its continued participation in racing, especially in Formula One, where it has largely enjoyed great success, especially during the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, late 1990s, and 2000s. After years of financial struggles, Enzo Ferrari sold the company's sports car division to the Fiat group in 1969 to ensure continued financial backing. Enzo Ferrari retained control of the racing division until his death in 1988 at the age of 90. Earlier that year he had overseen the launch of the Ferrari F40; the last new Ferrari to be launched before his death, and arguably one of the most famous supercars ever made.
Ferrari also has an internally managed merchandising line that licenses many products bearing the Ferrari brand, including eyewear, pens, pencils, electronic goods, perfume, clothing, high-tech bicycles, cell phones, and even laptop computers. Financial Times named Ferrari number one on its 2007 list of the 100 Best Workplaces in Europe.

Why did GM kill its electric car?

Zabanya

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Motors_EV1

Answer
According to the article GM simply could not make any money on it. This was a specialty car that only the rich could afford, the technology was too new and of doubtful value (you are simply shifting the source of pollution from the gasoline engine to an electric generating plant). It was a political ploy, an experimental attempt to find a way to comply with California's zero percent pollution requirements, and that experiment failed.

You cannot manfacture a car that only a few can afford it if it nothing in essence than a plain old car(high-end luxury cars are a different category); you can get the same results for far less. To try to do so violates Henry Ford's maxim of building a car every family could afford.

why does EA Sports not make an indy car racing game?

Sting

I think they should atleast try. they would probably make a pretty good profit off of it. I would definitely buy it!

Answer
The only reason that I can think of is because EA Sports is currently committed to the Nascar racing games, which have been very popular and profitable for them, plus it also comes down to the coding that it takes to make a video game, which some games have taken over a year to write the code, then you have to have people to do the graphics, etc. Making video games is very costly and a company such as EA Sports would want to make sure that they would be able to make a good profit off of the game.

Relocating to San Diego from Miami?

Leny A

We are planning on moving to San Diego from Miami. My husband will be making at the beginning around $4000/month and I have a home business bringing in around $1200/month. We are young parents of a 14 year-old boy and a 11 year-old girl. We are active, my son is a drummer my girl is a soccer player gifted students both, we are very social, enjoy putting the kids in bed and having some quality time for us like in a near by restaurant or bar, if we could go walking would be a dream!. Taking in consideration all those facts...May I have ideas were should we live, I know is very expensive, but would LOVE somewhere close to the ocean, but our priorities are the children schools.
Thank you for your time replying! :)

Answer
Hey!
I'm 13, and my family relocated to San Diego from NY last August, and I love it here! : )
My family is kinda like yours. My mom really wanted a good school district, she's nuts about the best schools for us, and a good place for me and my sisters and not too expensive, but nice.
We are in Encinitas and 3 miles from the ocean, and San Dieguito School District is very good, 2nd best probably only to Poway (which I would not recommend, because it is really far Inland, and it gets amazingly hot.) I would recommend the Encinitas/ La Costa/Olivenhain area. It is a little bit cheaper than Delmar and La Jolla, but just as nice. very affordable.
My middle school, Diegueno, is great, and I'm a "gifted kid" too. They have honors classes in Math and English, and... yeah. it has about 900 students, 30 per class except for the honors classes, 25 students for those. the teachers give lots of help if you need it, they challenge us. there are a lot of clubs at lunch that you can join, or just eat lunch with you friends in the quad, or the grassy area and stuff. the school is very cooperative, and also they have many elective choices, semester or year long. there is something for everybody. I love it!
my sisters go to Flora Vista elementary, one of the best elementarys in the EUSD. it's really nice, they have great teachers, and they also have combined classes (ex. 4th/5th) and everyone switches out for math to their level. the teachers challenge them, help them, and they like parental involvement. they offer lots of programs too, that's how my sisters got started on karate. (btw, they're 8 and 9, going into 3rd and 5th grade) sports, also. parents are really nice, my parents made lots of friends here in a short amount of time.
i don't know much about the high schools yet but you can choose your high school out of 4, i believe. there is LCC (la costa canyon) which is where lots of people go. they are the sporty school, because they have the most sports-oriented program, but they also have good academics. most of the other kids who don't go to LCC go to SDA (san dieguito academy) which is more academic-oriented, but they also have a wide selection of sports. they also have a theater and arts programs. then there is canyon crest academy, which is the newest and it's great! they have great technology and athletics and academics and arts. it's a lot of people's favorite. last is TPHS (torrey pines high school) and not many people go there at all. pretty much just a normal high school.
Our neighborhood has 3 different parks in walking distance, and they all have playgrounds and trails and grassy area. Two have community pools and tennis courts.its also a very safe area, encinitas has a low crime rate and everybody's always out, and most kids walk or bike to and from school with friends or hang out with their friends after school at the parks. There're great views in this area of the mountains and canyons and everything. The beach is close, it takes about 5 minutes to get there by car (we went yesterday to moonlight beach, pretty nice!) it's clean, and there's easy parking and fire pits and tables and it's just a great beach. there are a lot of nice resteraunts, and if you come here, try leucadia pizza, it's the best! : ) downtown encinitas is really nice, too. lots of places over there.
everyone here walks, it's great weather for it too, and it's easy to get around because most of the streets have sidewalks, bike lanes, and spaces for cars to park also. encinitas rec and the schools offer lots of programs and sports that are at different levels, most of our sport teams are some of the top in the area : )
if you're religious there are also a bunch of churches and temples around in encinitas, we go to san dieguito united methodist church, and it's 2 blocks from the beach, so we usually go there afterwards, it's very welcoming, and they have a great kids program and youth stuff.
if you want more information, edit your question asking for more on encinitas area and i'll tell you as much as i can! i hope this helped you and i'm sorry it's so long, but i think where we are is also a great place for you guys! : )

What is the most reliable, affordable, and low-maintenance used cars under 8k?

Zaza Zezo

I'm considering Camry, Accord, and Altima. I'm also thinking about Lexus, or Acura but I'm afraid of the maintenance cost.

Answer
Maintenance on an Acura won't be any more than a Honda. They are both built by the same company. Lexus is built by Toyota.

I wouldn't consider a Lexus or Acura affordable, both are high end luxury brands and an Acura TSX will cost you several thousand dollars more than a comparably equipped Accord.

Finding a Lexus or Acura under $8000 is going to be very difficult. Finding a Toyota or Honda for $8000 is easy.

I'm looking for a first car?

chihuahuap

I have 10k and I'm trying to decide what kind of car to get preferably 2007- now under 70k miles heated seats and a sunroof thats about it what would you suggest that fits my criteria?

Answer
ehhh that's kind of rough to find. you want luxury because you want the seats and the sunroof.. ahh i'd say look at rx-8's. super clean and sporty, looks like 2 doors but they are four doors, they're pretty fast, insurance isn't too high. you can easily get a 2008 for about 7000 or 8000 dollars with A LOT less miles than 70k. or go for something not so flashy like a honda accord. gas mileage is pretty decent with hondas, plus you can def find one in like 2007 or 2008 with under 70k, but someone might be asking 12 or 13000. who knows you can prob haggle them down being a cash buyer.. good luck!

What kind of car should i get?

Krista Nob

7,000 dolalrs is my budget, thanks!

Answer
If you have a budget of around $7,000 you have a lot of used car options available to you. It all depends upon what you plan on using the car for.

If you plan on using the vehicle for frequent trips and city driving, a compact or subcompact car from the early 2000s is your best choice. You'll need something reliable, with good gas mileage. If you need to hault a lot of gear or friends, a hatchback or wagon is a good choice, or at least a four door sedan. Here are your options from 2000-2005:

Chevrolet Cavalier
Ford Focus (2003 or newer)
Honda Civic
Hyundai Accent
Hyundai Elantra
Kia Rio
Kia Spectra
Mazda 3
Mazda Protege
Mitsubishi Lancer
Pontiac Sunfire
Pontiac Vibe
Scion XA
Scion XB
Subaru Impreza
Suzuki Aerio
Suzuki Forenza
Toyota Corolla
Toyota Matrix
Volkswagen Golf (TDI Diesel only)
Volkswagen Jetta (TDI Diesel only)

If you want something a little sportier and don't carry more than one or two friends with you, consider a compact coupe or convertible from the same era, like these:

Acura RSX
Chevrolet Cavalier Coupe or Cabriolet
Ford Focus ZX3
Honda Civic Coupe
Hyundai Tiburon
Mazda MX-5 Miata (only available as a 2-Seater)
Mercury Cougar
Mitsubishi Eclipse or Eclipse Cabriolet
Pontiac Sunfire Coupe or Cabriolet
Scion TC
Toyota Celica
Toyota MR-2 (only available as a 2-Seater)
Volkswagen Beetle (TDI Diesel only)

I only listed the diesel-powered Volkswagen models because the gas-powered ones before 2005 are among the least reliable compact cars sold in America.

If you need more room and do highway trips, a used midsize or fullsize luxury car from the mid to late 1990s are a good choice. Here are some reliable options that get good highway mileage:

Acura Legend
BMW 5-Series
Buick Le Sabre
Buick Park Avenue
Infiniti J30
Infiniti Q45
Lexus GS-Series
Lexus LS-Series
Lincoln Continental
Lincoln Town Car
Mercury Grand Marquis
Mitsubishi Diamante
Nissan Maxima
Oldsmobile Aurora
Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight
Volvo 860
Volvo 940

The above models all get mid to upper 20s in highway mileage and are a mix of six cylinder and small eight cylinder engines. They have large trunks and roomy interiors for more cargo and comfort for you and your passengers.

If you live in a snowy climate or do moderate off-roading, then a compact sport utility vehicle is a good idea. The late 1990s to early 2000s would be the best idea, so look for one of these:

Chevrolet Tracker
Geo Tracker
Honda CR-V
Honda Element
Hyundai Santa Fe
Kia Sportage
Mazda Tribute
Mercury Mariner
Suzuki Grand Vitara
Suzuki Sidekick
Suzuki Vitara
Suzuki XL-7
Toyota RAV4

These models are available with either 4-Wheel Drive (2-Hi, 4-Hi and 4-Lo transfer case) or All-Wheel Drive (no transfer case). Again, I only listed the models that scored average or higher in reliability testing. They all have four doors and ample cargo room, but some only seat four instead of five people.

You can search for vehicles in your area at this website:

http://www.autotrader.com

Just enter your price range, the models you're interested in, and the distance you're willing to travel to look at a potential good buy.

Thank you for your time and patience, and good luck.

looking for a car!!!?

Im 18 looking for another car!!! im looking to spend 4,000 right now is what i have at the moment i want something as nice as i can get i kno i cant do much with that but i cant be without a car anymore im sick of relieing on people its been to long without one so if anyone knows of anyone selling a car in good condition around new york please contact me back i really need the help thank you

Answer
Try this website:

http://www.autotrader.com

This site has the most listings of any site in the world. You just have to limit the search to $4,000 and how far you're willing to travel.

If you're spending around $4,000, and want something very nice, I would recommend a late 1990s luxury car from Acura, BMW, Infiniti, Lexus, Lincoln, or a mid-1990s Mercedes-Benz. They're relatively cheap, reliable, big, and luxurious. The BMWs are more fun to drive, the Mercedes-Benzes have the most power, while Lexuses are more reliable and Lincolns are the cheapest. Look for these models:

Acura RL
BMW 5-Series
BMW 7-Series
Infiniti J30
Infiniti Q45
Lexus GS-Series
Lexus LS-Series
Lexus SC-Series
Lincoln Continental
Lincoln Mark VIII
Lincoln Town Car
Mercedes-Benz CL-Class
Mercedes-Benz E-Class
Mercedes-Benz S-Class

Most of these models are 4-Doors, with a few coupes if that's your preference (Lexus SC-Series, Lincoln Mark VIII, and Mercedes-Benz CL-Class). Look for a model that's been well-cared for, preferably by an older gentleman or lady.

My personal favorites are the Lincoln Mark VIII and Lexus LS-Series. I love the Lincoln's styling and power, and the Lexus offers awesome reliability and loads of luxury for a decent price.

I hope this has answered your question. If you have any more, please feel free to ask.

What luxury cars get great gas mileage?

Ara

Looking for 2010, 2011 or 2012 luxury car for around 30,000 with close to 40 mpg. My wife and I don't want to settle for a Prius or Civic, but we do want good MPG because we drive so much. Is this possible without spending too much more?

Answer
If you take a closer look at the Prius, you'll see that you aren't "settling". It has many of features only found in luxury cars. It's a mid-sized car, not a compact like the Civic, so room is not a problem.

Note that decent luxury cars start at about $45,000.

My 2004 Prius has cost 12 cents per mile for dealer maintenance, tires, and fuel combined over the 120,000 trouble-free miles I've driven it so far.

My 2004 Prius MPG from the logbook. (Complete years only):
2003-2004 -- 50.8 mpg 17,628 miles
2005 -- 52.6 mpg 14,688 miles
2006 -- 56.3 mpg 16174 miles
2007 -- 57.3 mpg 18384 miles
2008 -- 59.9 mpg 21755 miles
2009 -- 61.4 mpg 16177 miles
2010 -- 65.2 mpg 12134 miles

Luxury or Sports car?

Tommy

I'm getting a second car and I'm deciding over a luxury or sports car. I currently have a 2011 Mercedes E550, it's luxurious and sporty at the same time. But now I'm deciding over a car that's main priority is luxury or sportiness. I'm 17 years old and I can truly say that I'm more mature than the rest of my classmates. I do enjoy having a comfortable ride going to point A to B, but I would also like having a good time meanwhile. I like having stiff suspensions and a low ride to fell closer to the road, but I could easily go the other way. My budget is $40,000, please give me any suggestions.

Answer
Hi Chang
Parents are impressed with a off spring with a sensible car so it maybe a good idea to stick with the current formula.
so a newer version of what you have might just be what is needed.

Need help finding a cheap sports car?

rdld

i'm thinking about getting a sports car someday and i would like to know what is a sports car for $17000 or less no more than $20000 probably from 2000 and up but no earlier than 1997:
considering:
mitsubishi eclipse 2001 and up
ford mustang 2005+
corvette z06 any year
camaro any year
mitsu. lancer (or lancer evolution)
toyota celica 2006+
honda accord coupe si (not really a sports car but who cares)
dodge charger
dodge viper (probbaly out of my price range)
grand am, trans am, grand prix (love them even 90s models)
what i'm asking is are these nice cars and are they in my $ range
also i'd llove any suggestions you have too

Answer
First, If you are American you should buy American Sport/Muscle. I will link you to a site that IF you are really into cars...You will most likely be on this site for hours writing numbers down. Perhaps you have a dream car on here.

LINK: http://www.racingjunk.com/category/8/Street_Cars.html
Choose a Make or just scroll down to bottom and click the "view all adds" to see all the great deals.

Did you know that the 2010 Camaro is like $23,000? If I were you I would just save the extra $3,000 and get that.

Now, If you were going for something fast, reliable, & cheap to upgrade(add Horse Power) I would go with ANY year of Camaro V8! The parts are a dime a dozen & they are very nice cars. Just make sure you go with the V8 model!

Please do the rest of the American "sports car enthusiast's" a favor and NOT buy Mitsu, toyota,,honda Or subaru..(Leave that to the 12 year old's.) .Keep this American Muscle/sports car love going.

Personally I'm a truck guy all the way around. But I do plan on getting something like a 1979 Camaro or Trans am. I am in to older Muscle a lot more then newer sport. But I wish you good luck on you car hunt!

Again Good Luck!!!

What is a good sports car around 10k?

Jacob Mart

I'm 17 and I'll be leaving for college after this year and I drive a 1999 ford ranger... I'm going to be getting a new car for college and I really want a sports car. I really like the Subaru WRX but I think it will cost too much. What about camarro mustang 350z? What is a good alternative sports car for around 10k?

Answer
Like the above person said those aren't really sports cars. But 10K can get you a lot of much more interesting real sports cars.
Such as these
The second generation toyota mr2 1989-1999
An early 1980s to 90s Lotus esprit s2 or s3
A pontiac fiero
A chevy corvette c4 1984-1989
An older honda s2000 1999 to 2003
A mitsubishi 3000 gt
A dodge stealth
or even a early 2000s porsche boxster

Of these the lotus is the most exotic, to people who don't know cars it could pass for a lamborghini. And with a top speed of 170 and a 0-60 time of 4.5 or so it drives almost like one too.
Also the more exotic cars on this list, the corvette the lotus etc, were likely somebodys second car, so most for sale will have under 50,000 miles.

Do luxury cars tend to become "high maintenance" rather than "fuel efficient"?

rainwater

I've heard luxury cars are so high maintenance and requires large amounts of fuel.

Answer
used to be very true.
however newer luxury large cars are now in some cases adding refinements to offset high fuel costs and can work out at roughly same as normal mid size cars to operate.
however loss of value due to depreciation and higher than average parts and maintenance costs out weight any real long term savings.
so yes.

Is saab 9-3 Linear a luxury car ?????????/?

Yahoo User

Do you believe saabs are luxury cars. If not what is a luxury car?????

Answer
Someone had asked a similar question a few months ago, you did not say what year, but the response was:
"Pros-
Huge initial depreciation makes any Saab a great deal in the used market... lots of features for very little money, especially compared to Honda's and Toyota's
Quiet, luxurious, and sporty . great gas mileage.

Cons-
2004 was the first year that they produced the 9-3 sport sedan. Linear is only the base model.. Aero is the fun".
Hope this helps you. matter of taste, but do have a reputable service person check it out for you.
Thank you

Need Advice for Moving to NYC after graduating from college?

BobaB

Will be moving to NYC in 07. Details:
Job Situation: I've accepted a FT job offer & will be working downtown in the Fin. District. Salary=$55K + $5K sign-on bonus +$7.5K relocation

Living Situation: Prefer to live close to work (although I know it would be more expensive) but am willing to live up to 1 hr away.
-Will probably be selling my car before I move up there
-Hoping to find a studio/1BR for no more than $1,500/mth
-If possible, I would love to live in a luxury apt (that includes gym & most utilities)

Area preference: Somewhere safe (female living by myself) and quiet (not a party person). It would be nice to be near the entertainment/shopping/museum areas

Questions:
-I'm moving from the south so my guarantor won't be from the tri-state area. Will I still be able to find something?
-In ref. to fin requirement: Will I be able to rent an apt as a new-hire just out of college?
-Specific area recommendations?
-How soon do I start looking for an apt? (start work in Sept 07)

Answer
September is the big month for people moving in, since school starts then. Suggest you try to aim for getting an apt in June/July when colleges and other schools are out, people leaving apts then.
As for area, keeping within an hour of the financial district, you have wide choices. For ex, there is a building, 700 Victory Blvd on Staten Island just 8 minutes by bus from the ferry, 25 minutes to Manhattan. This building has the athletic type facilities you ask about, plus an underground garage and out door parking, so you could keep your car. There are also a few buildings in Brooklyn Heights with similar facilities, but probably a lot more expensive.
I always suggest to people so check locations along the #7 IRT subway, which even at its last stop is little more than 30 minutes from Manhattan, and has at that last stop everything you could want.
In Manhattan, look at Inwood (above 204 St). This area is being yuppified, but is still nice, and a quick direct ride to the financial district on the A train, a seat the entire way.
Riverdale is a possibility as a couple buildings there also have the facilities you want, but is further from downtown.
As one moving into the area, landlords will most likely run a credit check on you. If you use a service to find an apt, they will generally charge you a month's rent, and you will have to lay out a month's rent as security deposit plus pay the first month, thus 3X you normal rent will be your outlay to start.
You should be able to find a 1BR for under $1500. Do not go the studio route--so cramped you will want to move soon.

Luxury car for college bound? Lease or buy?

walk on wa

ok my dad is being such a dick he &mystepmom& mom&stepdad said i could get a nice car for college and my bday(both in november) ,(all agreed to split the $) and now he's backin out saying it doesn't seem "practical" and that i should jus wait til after i graduate cuz it's inconvienent 2 have a car in the city and it's"extravagant". well i personally like 2 have the best of everything and dont u agree girls will like me more then other guys?!. And would u reccomend I maybe jus lease one? or buy a used lux car(thinking jag x-type, or benz c-class, then upgrade after I graduate to a higher end model as I bring in my own salary). But the deal was we were not gona spend more then 15-20k tops(we have connections).

ps. In addition this is a private university and I know kids will be driving nicer Brand New cars so spare the sarcastic comments about how I'm a spoiled & entitledc uz I DON"T wana hear it. I'm a pretty good kid, had jobs b4,saved$, was on tennis, swim team&4-hclub. so yeh

Answer
Lease a car. As a college student, money is probably tight. Payments are lower on a lease. And if you are mostly going to be diving locally and not very often (no long road trips), you can get even lower payments by going for a low mileage lease.

After a couple of years, you can lease another car, making the objects of your affection impressed when you drive up in new wheels once again.

How do luxury car rental companies get their cars? Do they purchasethem, get from auction or lease them?

DzynOne

Specifically, the exotic car rental companies. Just curious how they make a profit since the cars are mostly over 100k and they have a lot in their fleet. Doesn't seem to be a high volume business.

Answer
They probably lease them - it is for a short time, often they will be kept for a year or say 10,000 miles so they off load the car before maintenance is an issue.
The daily or hourly rental is expensive.

How do I find out if my car is a transformer?

Tim

I looked everywhere in my car, I can't tell if it's a robot in disguise

Answer
Well, the first thing you should do is search nearly all conceivable locations on your car for a special emblem. While there are differentiations, most Transformers are either Autobots or Decepticons. If your car is a Transformer, it will be sporting a logo dictating which faction they are/were in. The second thing you should do is possibly put yourself or your car in some kind of danger. If your car is an Autobot, it will possibly help you. But either way, your car is sure to find some way to defend itself. It doesn't necessarily have to transform to do so. If it starts showing signs of free will, your car might just be a Transformer.

When American Car Companies...?

Mauz

When American Auto Companies come out with new models from retro cars like challenger, charger, chevelle, do they run out of ideas or this is a wise decision? Why do car companies(import& domestic) use the same model but put different emblems and brandings? For Example, late model Ford F-150 looks like the Lincoln truck.

Answer
The older cars are nostalgic for a lot of consumers. It's usually done with sport cars because of the memories they bring. When todays thirty-somethings think back to their childhood, they think of cars like a '68 Mustang or a '69 Camaro. It brings back some really good memories. Designing cars like that is just a marketting strategy based on selling cars by using a little nostalgia.
The F-150 looks a lot like a lincoln truck b/c it really is a lincoln truck. Same engine, same frame, same transmission, etc. Just a few emblems changed. They're both made by Ford Motor Company at the same plant
