Is this a good deal for an IS250?

Hi

It's a 2007 navy blue color with 12,500 miles and they're asking $26,000 for it excluding tax and registration and everything. I went to the dealership today to check it out, but I have never bought a Lexus before so I don't know the pricing on their cars. Help me out. Thanks!

Answer
You didn't mention options - I'll assume it's an automatic, but does it have all wheel drive, a navigation package, levinson audio, a luxury or premium package, any of these things? On a new car, these would add maybe $10K to the price (all together), and a gently used one, maybe $6K or $7K.

If it's loaded as can be - yeah, that's a great deal. If it's a stripped down manual transmission - it's overpriced.

Assuming it's automatic, not all wheel drive, doesn't have the navigation, levinson audio or other high end options and is in excellent condition, Kelly blue book for dealer sale is $26,260, so yes, it's priced right. I love low mileage cars, as they have a lot of life left for the year it is. This one's still under warranty too (way under miles, probably have a year and a half left of the original 4 years), so no worries there.

If you want to buy it (and it's a great car), offer the dealer $24,000, and look to close somewhere around $25K.

We are looking to move to Austin and want to know the best place to move to. Kids go to a private christian school and we want a house that is not too far from the IT businesses in Austin where my husband will likely work. Please help us find the best place to live with good schools, quiet, clean neighborhoods and luxury houses that don't cost more than 400K

Answer
Hell we just moved to Dallas getting a 5 bedroom 3 car garage 4.5 baths a 10k sq ft lot new built home for 275k

My advice to you. Move there first rent look around get to know the areas then decide on where to buy a house. Theres a building boom here in Texas so buy a nice new house do it up the way you want and still pay less than 400k.

BTW that price ceramic tiles , wood floors , sistone counter tops 42 inch cabinets etc etc

so welcome to Texas

BTW they charge you $90.00 to move here lol

you have to register your car before your get ur license and you have to pay cash,

Compared to California and New Jersey: Is Texas a primitive state?

Ash'ari Ma

I mean does Texas lack the luxuries found in Cali and NYC?

Does the level of education in Texas match that of these states?

Do the people dress well in Texas?

Please explain...

Answer
It depends on what part of Texas one is in. Dallas, Austin, Houston and San Antonio each have a lot of museums, arts venues, etc... Dallas and Austin are wealthier and more liberal. The basic stereotype for women is true...big hair and big boobs. At one time Dallas was the plastic surgery capital of the world, (more plastic surgery performed here than anywhere else). Dallas is about prestige and living large....large homes, luxury cars, designer clothing...whether one can afford it or not.

Addison, Tx a close in suburb of Dallas has more restaurants per capita than any other city in the country.

The shopping here is unbelieveable...mall after mall after mall. People in the cities do dress well.

Education level I am sure is the same as most other states...of couse we have big schools like UT/Austin, but, we also have prestige schools like SMU/Dallas.

However, when you go to the far out suburbs and small towns, you do find the Bubba mentality....the mullets on guys, women with 1980's mall hair and shoulder pads...and rusted out pickups with shotguns hanging in the rear window. But, this is really no different from small towns in other states.

Texas, and Dallas in general is a melting pot of the U.S. Because of the tax benefits, (no state income tax), many companies have relocated their headquarters here. So, it is hard to find people in Dallas that are natives to the area. Most of us have transferred from other states. We of course bring our cultures with us, and so the face of Dallas has changed considerably in the past 50 years. Even the Texas drawl is not nearly as prevelant as it was just 20 years ago.

Da Gurl Wi

We have a Wii,PS3 and Xbox 360 in the house
the ages of the kids are 9,13,15,16, and 24

Answer
I would say for the Wii to be sure to have the Wii Sports and Wii Sports resort since these are good quick games and everyone can play and jump in and out very easily. I would also suggest maybe having Mario Kart since that too is a fun game that most will enjoy. You could download some old school Mario games to the console as well. Mario party would be fun to have as well. Trivial pursuit may also be a good one or disney think.

PS3 I would suggest Modnation racers to be one game since it is a fun game for all. I would also suggest Little Big Planet because it can be fun for everyone to take turns creating together. A mild fighting game like Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe or Super Street Fighter would be good as well to have. Burnout Paradise would also be a good racing game that isn't so kiddy feeling though I don't think anyone minds that. The buzz games may also be fun to have.

Xbox 360 I would suggest Forza as a game and sega tennis can be fun as well. viva party animals is a good one too it works like mario party.

I think any of the rock bands or guitar heros would be good for any console, maybe getting a track pack if you know they all like a certain type of music. I would strongly suggest band hero and lego rock band since they are more kid friendly. I think any of the DDR games might be fun to have setup or American Idol even just for laughs. The scene it games are great too and if you only have one control for any of your consoles they come with their own so then you can now have four people playing at once. Racing games I think would easily appeal across the board and you can go with the ones I listed or any Need for Speed game, Cars Racing, Madagascar Cartz.

Asset and liability recognition and valuation?

sports cars st louis on PopScreen - Video Search, Bookmarking and Discovery Engine
sports cars st louis image

luke

The St.Louis Cardinals sign Albert Pujols to a five-year contract beginning next year. The contract calls for payments of $50 million each year for the next five years, beginning next year. Assume that these payments have a present value of $200 million. The contract also provides the Cardinals give Pujols an Italian sports car valued at $250,000 at the time of signing the contract. Indicate the treatment of this contract at the time of signing.

Answer
Calculate the net present value of the future payments, and book that as a liability. Then, when each payment is made the liability is reduced, + difference between NPV and actual payment

What are some cool things to do in St Louis for a family with a 6 year old child?

casino_ban

We are looking for something different. We have done the zoo, Grants Farm, Science Center, Arch, River Cruise, and Ballgames. He likes sports, games, things like that. Any huge game area or something like that, with sports type activities for a 6 year old? Or anything for a 6 year old.

Answer
As far as St. Louis City is concerned... the bowling hall of fame is really cool and I think the Cardinals baseball museum is attached to that. The City Museum is fantastic, there is no kid/adult in the world that wouldn't love that place. The botanical garden has a childrens garden which is great in the spring and summer.
In St. Louis County there is the museum of transportation that has trains and cars your can explore and lots of room to run. The magic house in Kirkwood is opening a brand new wing this summer which is an awesome place for kids 10 and under to explore and learn. Laumeier Sculpture Park is cool that are a lot of giant scuptures for children to run on and a lot of land for children to explore and find cool sculptures. The Mills Mall off HWY370 has a nascar speed park with gocarts as well as glow in the dark put put golf. There is also Swing Around Fun Town to the south in Fenton which I believe is off 141 has lots of games, batting cages, go carts, bumper boats, and lots of put put golf.

I hope this helps, good luck on your trip!

Why sports cars and luxury cars are expensive in India ?

luxury cars in india on benz india bmw premium selection bmw india audi india audi
luxury cars in india image

Anonymous

A disappointing fact is that in India only rich people can afford to buy cars because they are expensive. The same cars are way cheaper in the United States,Canada or any other such country. For example :-
1) BMW 7 series U.S. price50KUSD TO 60K USD Indian price: ON ROAD 10 million rupees or 200K USD
2) Lamborghini Aventador MSRP IN USA 400K USD IN india on road: 40 million rupees or 800KUSD

Why is it that cars in India are priced and two/three times the actual amount and what is the reason for such rigid taxation policy ?

Answer
Its the state of india that decides to put huge luxury taxes on such cars...

In Singapoore its even more extreme. A new BMW 335i costs about 280000$ over there!

How many millions are need to live happy in india luxury with all luxury cars from aston martin to bentley?

How many miles would be consider a lot for a sport motorycle?

sports cars under 60000 on The Jay-Z Blue Yukon Denali | Nah Right
sports cars under 60000 image

JAY N

im thinking about getting a used bike and i dont know how many miles would be consider high for a bike? and what is a bike that has a fast 0-60 time that is affordable?

Answer
I asked the same question here on yahoo answers a while back. The correct answer is this.

The higher the cc's of the bike the higher the longer the engines can go.

Some guys will say "Yah but what if a 250cc engine was maintained but a 600cc engine was abused and oil never changed etc.." and if you compare it like that obviously the better taken care of motor lasts longer.

But let's say this. With everything be equal if the bikes were all maintained the same I gaurantee you that the engines that last longest are in this order.

250cc lasts on average 25000 miles
500cc lasts on average 50000 miles
600cc lasts on average 60000 miles
750cc lasts on average 75000 miles
1000cc lasts longest about 100,000 miles

The smaller the cc the higher they rev.

So try to find a bike with the highest cc's
In other words I would be willing to bet anything that a Ninja 250 will not last as long as a Ninja zx10 because the zx has 1000 cc but the 250 has 250 cc's

Now on some bikes, like the Kawasaki Ninja 250, you can find engines cheap on ebay. For example a ninja 250 engine can be bought right now on ebay under $500.00 so some bikes you don't have to even really worry about engines as they are so inexpensive you can just buy another engine rather than paying to have it rebuilt.

Go to ebay.com and look for motorcycle engines you'll find them cheap.

I know you didn't ask this but I would be amiss to not mention to you the most important thing (In my opinion this is most important) as a rider.

IMPORTANT: Get a bike that is tailored to your needs!

For example. Should you get a lighter bike or a heavier bike?
Both answers are correct for the bikes particular circumstance.

If you are going to be riding on the street get a light bike like 300+ lbs. You want a light bike for street riding and curves..

However if you are going to be going interstates/freeways where there is no stop and go but straight, and long drives (More than 20 miles) get a heavier bike like 500lbs or 400+ lbs.

Why? A light bike sucks on the freeways as you get blown all over and its not fun nor enjoyable. If you are going short distances on a freeway its not bad but if more than a few minutes that crud gets tiring and it feels unsafe. So for highways do not ever get under a 600cc bike and make sure its not a light bike or you will blow all over and you will regret your decision the first minute on the freeway.

I'll give you an example. I used to own a ninja 250 and it is awesome for streets. You can drive far distances and never be tired and its awesome on gas and will go 70 or 80+ or more but on the freeways it blew all over and was no fun.

I got a zx10 instead and the bike is heavier like 500lbs but it stays planted on the freeways. Since I mostly go freeways to work and back I get great mpg so gas is not a problem it is saving me gas. However if I were going to ride on the streets a lot I would have stayed with the Ninja 250 or Ninja 500.

Re: 0-60 time, even the Ninja 250 which is considered a new riders bike, has a better 0-60 time than 95% of the cars out there.

All in all though you gotta trust me on this, your main concern after riding will be the wind and the weight of the bike.

So here are some rules of thumb to follow
Heavy bike is safer on freeways
For freeways don't dare go under 600cc

For streets get a lighter bike. Now, sometimes folks will say "What if I go both freeways and streets?" I would say this..If you are going on the freeways about oh 5% of the time and not often and not long distances, then a light bike is ok. But if you are going on the freeway every now and then and more than 5% of the time and more than 10 miles or so...then do not get a light bike. Get at least 400lbs or more.

I have looked and looked and researched bikes and have also rode a lot of them and for the money here is the TOP LIST OF BIKES.

RICH'S TOP 5 LIST OF BIKES FOR THE MONEY!

#1 Best starter bike for the person on a budget of $1000-$2000
The winner is The Ninja 250 by Kawasaki. You can get a good quality bike used on ebay or craigslist.com Not recommended on freeways but is legal on freeways and I have ridden on freeways many times on one. Very light bike and is the only 250 sport bike available in the United states..most people don't know that.

#2 THE HEAVY BIKE FOR THE PERSON ON A BUDGET
For freeways you can get a Suzuki Katana 600 cc bike or 750 cc. I have seen these for sale all day long for $2000 or a tad under or over $2000 The bike is not for the beginner as its a very heavy bike but that is good if you are riding freeways! However if you tip it over only God almighty and all your strength will be able to lift it up again. I don't recommend this bike for skinny people that are new to riding. However anybody that has experience riding will be fine with common sense. Excellent on freeways.

#3 BEST NEW BIKE FOR PERSON ON A BUDGET
If you want your mouth to water like a thirsty man in the dessert, go to Kawasaki.com and click sport bike and then 2008 NINJA 250 You'll see a video of a $3000+ bike NEW!
And this thing is....Awesome. However I'd like to jump in here with a personal opinion...

If you were to buy the Ninja 250, 2008 year, by the time you left the dealer you would have paid easily $4000.00 for a new one. So I would wait a year until you can get them used...and in my opinion if I had $4000 I would get the bike in the next paragraph.

#4 BEST USED BIKE FOR PERSON WITH $4000 give or take..
If you have a bit under $4000 maybe a little less or more..depending on the deal you get,..take a look at the Suzuki sv or suzuki sv650. You can get the bike naked, that is without fairings, but you don't want that. For freeways you want it FULL FAIRING and if you go to ebay.com or craigslist.com you'll see these bikes...Very sexy, very hot..and they are awesome to ride.

#5 GODS FAVORITE BIKE
Legend has it that when Yahmaha made the R1 and it just came out of the factory...they rolled it out into the test track. As the rider approached it the heavens opened up and voice thundered down from heaven and it said "Rider! Take off your boots, you are walking near hallowed ground" The R1 is a bike but its also a peace of art that the rider can become one with. If money is no object...the R1 is one Righteous 1 to get.

Behold the r1 below:
If someone has never ridden before even the slowest bike will feel great to them as most bikes are faster than most cars.

Why kind of car is super fast for cheap?

sports cars 1960 on 1969 Pontiac GTO
sports cars 1960 image
Q. Don't tell me thy I'm not gonna need it just tell me what kind of car is like late 60s to early 80s and super fast I want 300 horsepower or higher and I have 5k to spend it must look awesome and I don't care if it's a muscle or a sports car please help.

Answer
It is very apparent you have done zero research.
None of the cars that meet your requirements from the 1960's into the mid 1970's can be had for $5,000. I mean none.
Say you are looking for a 1970 Pontiac Trans Am. 400 cu. in. engine. Car in the link below will cost you $42,000. 1971 Pontiac Trans-Am will cost you $39,995.
Cars built later than 1973 or so saw reduce horsepower ratings to deal with pollution laws. Hard to find a car that put out 200 horsepower.
If you did find a cat that meets your far fetched requirements, it will need upwards of $20,000 for a decent restoration.
Car you feel you need can not be had for a measly $5,000.

WHAT do i need for a tune up on a 2000mitsubishi montero sport es?

jimmy

I havent done a tune up in years, and that was on 1960's era cars, this looks totally differnt under the hood. i got plugs and wires and fuel and air filters, im i missing anything?

Answer
Dielectric grease to put inside the spark plug boots. Prevent them from welding to the plug. And you'll need a torque wrench to tighten the plugs. That's a huge change from the old days when you could just wrench them in. With aluminum head, wrong torque can rip the threads out. Over and under torquing has serious consequences.

I'm 18 and I've had my license for 2 years. I have a squeaky clean driving record, and a good job resume. I drive a Nissan 350z. Would this be a problem or a benefit for an employer hiring a delivery driver? Also, what are the perks to being a delivery driver? Would you recommend it?

Why American sports cars dont have the global appeal of a Ferrari or Lambo or Jag?

MATHEW

I have always loved our Camaros ,Mustangs and Fire birds and i am amazed people around the world take Ferraris,Mercs as some sort of Exotics.

I have even driven Them in Los Angles and i dont think them as great as people says.
These cars are good The do perform and do every thing well but they simply dont have the the dark, hairy, muscle image of our pony cars.
And also the costs and the repair costs every time u have to be so much careful with them a simple nick can cost u so much.
So the entire fun of driving one is lost.
I would prefer a Mustang for the so called Exotics

Answer
Look at the market - Where do American cars sell? Only in America. The fact remains, we Europeans cannot afford to drive the ludicrously polluting and un-economical vehicles that America produces. We pay nearly 4 times as much for gas/petrol as you, are taxed MUCH more heavily on emissions...added to the fact our roads are more narrow and bendy...so we need cars that are designed for these conditions - and don't get me wrong, I loved the Mustang LX I hired in LA, but it would be damned near impossible to live with in the United Kingdom.
Granted your cars 'perform', but stick a 5.6 hemi V8 in anything, and it'll 'perform' - European sports cars tend to be far more refined, and come from a different motorsport herritage. The US history of drag racing and NASCAR is all very impressive and has resulted in some fantstic engines, but cornering has never been a priority.
And I agree - servicing on Ferrari's et al is LUDICROUS..but if you can afford one in the first place, what's another £5k a quarter?
You have, with your question, in many ways proved my final point - national pride. Italian's drive Ferraris, German's drive Porsches, and American's drive muscle. The roads the cars were developed on reflect how they perform/drive...and as such, the market for American cars around the world is very limited. Plus, they are often only available in LHD, and that puts off a large number of UK buyers.

Hope this helps.

Were they considered luxuries? Did few people own them?

Answer
Cadillac have always been consider luxury cars. In the past usually only rich people owned them. But now with diverse credit anyone can own them. I have my eyes set on a 71-73 Coupe Deville for my next project.

What would you drive? A new car or a classic?

Choose one of the two along with what car model and explain why.

Answer
A classic car easily wins, for aesthetic appeal: lots of the old cars simply had character and style.

The cars of the 1920s and 1930s bespoke luxury; even the "cheap" cars usually had some feature or aspect that was simply beautiful. Not all were practical, and maintenance costs could be extreme if the car was driven often or for "great" distances: the fenders would crack from vibration, etc.

The cars of the 1940s and 1950s were attractive for a different reason -- and, at least generally -- reliability, efficiency and utility were all greatly improved.

Power has always been in vogue, but the 1960s saw an explosion in its availability.

There are variations on these themes throughout automotive history: a decade-long generalization is far too broad to recognize developments within the decade, and many trends began in one decade and disappeared in another -- only to reappear in a later decade.

Engine swaps and other types of modification enable the possibility of retaining the style and luxury of earlier automobiles while adding the reliability, efficiency and environmental friendliness of modern technological improvements.

So, ignoring the possibility of making my own ride from scratch, I'd probably go with something like a 1971 Ford Boss 351 (or other trim level based on the 63R body code), or a 1994 Mazda RX-7 with the manual trans -- or, if I was feeling like a purist and I was looking for a family car, the 1989 Ford SHO Taurus.

In the case of the SHO, mine ran 14.86 @ 101.0, 142 mph sustainable cruising speed (also the top speed), got 28.3 mpg on a 6-stop run averaging 95 mph for 388 miles, and returned its best (highway) fuel economy of 36 mpg while commuting with the cruise set at 75 mph.

The combination of acceleration, speed, reliability and fuel economy in a car having great comfort and decent room (I consider the Taurus a "mid-size" car) makes the 1989 SHO my choice for the best car yet made. Reliability problems attributed to its transmission/transaxle were actually the fault of shoddy final assembly by US workers, who left the clips out of the shift linkage grommets.

The SHO's problem was exacerbated by the incompetence of Ford's dealer network to maintain Ford vehicles. Beyond that, the Goodyear tires were good for fuel economy but (in 1989) were insanely expensive as the only other car with that size tire was the 60k+ Acura NSX (which in those days was impressive for its performance), and they didn't last when driven hard.

In 1989, got a set of Kelly Springfield shoes for my SHO for less than 1/4 the price of a replacement set of Eagles; the Kellys had a lower speed rating, and they were so "grippy" that they actually lowered the top speed to 135 mph. Cornering improved with the Kellys, but they didn't give the warning that the Goodyears did: they were more of a "driver's tire."

Peak fuel economy with the Kellys dropped to 28 mpg during my commutes.

I test-drove the 1994 RX-7; it performed brilliantly (ever done a 1-g drift across an unguarded ramp having a 50+ foot drop at the edge of the shoulder-less pavement: it's a boaner-fide thrill!), but the Bose sound system was junk and the panels lying in the "rear seat" area (I forget what they were called) didn't fit anywhere close to properly, which made me suspicious of the overall quality of the car.

My Type I Volkswagen Beetle Sunroof Sedan (I think it was from the 1950s) had the most comfortable seats and the best ergonomics of any car I've ever been in, and no vehicle of which I have any firsthand knowledge has ever exceeded any reasonable estimation of possible performance to the degree evinced by the 1968 Ford F-100 LWB Styleside pickup with the 360 V8.

Having said all that, my favorite is still the 1971 Mustang Mach-1 or Boss 351, in metallic argent, with black stripes and the "ram air" hood (blacked-out scoop, blah blah), the front and rear spoilers. It's simply beautiful. Would I make improvements to it? Yes, and when I got done, it wouldn't be a 1971 car, anymore -- but that's what makes it a classic, to me.
