Cheap "exotic" sports car?

[daniel]

So Lamborghinis are cool. We all know this. But I'm a poor little white boy, and I was wondering, what cool NON-MAINSTREAM (this means you, Mustang) sports cars are there, that don't cost the deed to my house and 12 years of slave labor?*

In other words, under $100,000

Answer
If I had $100,000 to spend, these are some of the cars I would consider:

Acura NSX (Used)

Ariel Atom

Aston Martin Vantage (Used)

Audi R8 (Used)

Audi RS4

Audi S5

Bentley Continental GT (Used)

BMW M3

BMW M5

BMW M6

Caterham Seven

Chevrolet Corvette

Chevrolet Corvette Z06

Dodge Viper

Ferrari 360 Modena (Used)

Ford Mustang Shelby GT500

Jaguar XK/XKR

Lotus Elise

Lotus Exige

Maserati GranTurismo (Used)

Mercedes-Benz CL Class

Mercedes-Benz SL Class

Nissan GT-R

Porsche 911 Carrera

Porsche 911 Turbo (Used)

Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe (Replica)

Shelby Cobra 427 (Replica)

For the most part, all of these can be purchased with low miles for under $100,000.

I would also consider some of my favorite muscle cars and classics.

what us the best sports car?

Answer
It depends on what you mean by "best", and to a lesser degree what you mean by "sports car". I'm assuming street-legal production cars.

Fastest? It's hard to keep track, but it's probably one of the Italian supercars like Lamborghini or Ferrari.

Best handling? It's partly a matter of taste and what kind of driving you do. Ariel or Lotus are contenders.

Most comfortable? Bentley GT is my vote.

Most fun? I think the Austin Healy Sprite is one of the most fun-to-drive cars ever built. It's not fast, and it's not luxurious, but dang, it's fun.

Most fun and currently being built? That might be a tossup between the Subaru Impreza WRX in STi tuning, or the MINI Cooper S. I have one of the latter, and a buddy has the former, and while you might argue that they're technically not sports cars, and therefore lack a certain "cool" factor, they are both TONS 'O FUN.
