Can a 1970 Dodge Charger can definitely beat any sport cars?

George

A kid at school told me that the 1970 Dodge Charger has 1200 mph , WHAT!!!!???????! how can this be true , i mean its a 1970 muscle car with a few horse power . What the heck ; is there such thing?

Answer
Yes, there is such a thing, but very few of any old American muscle cars have that kind of h.p. To give you a clear idea of what 1200 horses is like; watch "The Fast and Furious".After watching the last racing scene in the movie, you'll have a better idea of how a Charger(custom built) responds to 1200hp. Back in the 60's and "early" 70's,American stock sports cars ranged between 300-400 h.p. These cars ruled the streets, even through the 80's. In the early 90's, things changed. The Japanese sports cars made history by becoming a new threat to racing.

Is a Dodge Charger a sports car?

I'll be 16 in a few months and I'll probably be getting a Honda Accord coupe or a Charger. I'd be getting the v6 engine in either/or vehicle

Answer
No.

The Dodge Charger is a large sedan meant to be luxurious, smooth, and quiet.

Even the SRT-8 "feels" slow. I have driven them.

The Accord Coupe is also not a sports car, but it is more sporty than a Charger in every way. The Accord Coupe V6 is pretty fast too. The Accord V6 is about 2 seconds faster from 0-60mph than the weaker Charger V6.
