What big body car gets good gas mileage?

cars i have had include 2000 impala, 86 caprice, 06 charger, thats the size of vehicle i like, im currently driving the caprice now and it sucks on gas so what big body car gets fairly good gas mileage from 95-02 are years im looking at, any help?

Ford's Crown Victoria doesn't do too shabby for such a big car. Though EPA numbers might be lower than this, I know plenty of people who get 22-26 mpg out of them.

If you want more luxury, move up-market a little and buy the Mercury Grand Marquis. Or if you have fantasies of being a limousine service driver, buy a Lincoln Town Car. But the Crown Vic is the lightest of the "Panther" body trio, and has the least gadgets to break. That's why the police love it...well, and the fact that it's rock-solid reliable in the most severe of environments. But yeah. That's my recommendation.

So im helping my dad find a replacement family car. And he considered getting a used lincoln town car L. Although it has a V8, i figured the cheaper price would makeup for the gas. What is the reliabity of his car? And the mpg? All the specs wud be nice thank you

the L has another 6 inches of rear legroom. the mpg is the same. lincoln town cars are very reliable because its a rich mans crown victoria they all ride same chassis/ same engine/trans, the town car gets 20 mpg city and 28 mpg highway. its rear wheel drive, and is the luxury version of grand marquis. i would really go for the lincoln town car because they last longer than its main rival, the cadillac deville. dont buy these brand new because by the time its a year old its worth 30k instead of 50k brand new. this car has more passenger and cargo room than the cadillac dts and town cars can last as long as a toyota or honda.

i mean to me the maurader is a true classic,, why would they discontinue it,,,

and take crwon vics,, they are beutiful cars,, but have looked the same for years,, why not udate the look a lil

It's quite simple, really. GM never made the car in the first place. The Mercury Grand Marquis Marauder is a Ford product, based off of the same platform as the Ford Crown Victoria Interceptor.

The answer to your second question is: Yes, it seems like GM and Ford, as well as other companies, do take great cars off of the market. The reason is because they're not selling well. The great cars of yesteryear, like the musclecars of the 1960s, and even newer, lamented models like the Mazda RX-7, Mitsubishi 3000GT, Pontiac Firebird and GTO, and Toyota Supra have all been removed from the market because they simply weren't selling in numbers to justify the price of producing them. Some, though, like the Dodge Challenger, Chevrolet Camaro, and possibly the Pontiac Firebird, are coming back because enough people missed them to tell Chrysler and GM that they'd be buying them once they appeared on the market again.

The Marauder was discontinued because Mercury only sold approximately half of the 2004 Marauders by years' end, and less than half of what it had sold in 2003. That's pretty bad.

The answer to your last question is this: Ford might be updating the Crown Victoria. Originally, the next Crown Victoria was going to be built on the Ford Interceptor concept, but Ford decided that was too expensive. For sure, Ford is going to be redesigning the Lincoln Town Car, which shares its' platform with the Ford Crown Victoria and the Mercury Grand Marquis, so it makes sense to also release a Ford and Mercury version to take up cost. What would keep this from happening is two things: One is the fact that the Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable are now fullsize cars, with more room in them than the old Crown Victoria and Grand Marquis, better gas mileage, more power, and All-Wheel Drive. Two is if, to keep the Lincoln Town Car competitive in today's luxury car market, Ford decides to build the Town Car with a very high-tech platform to compete with the likes of very expensive luxury cars like the Audi A8, BMW 7-Series, Cadillac DTS and STS replacement, and Mercedes-Benz S-Class, which it rivals in size, particularly with the long-wheelbase L version.

Has anyone heard of a company giving a new high-position hired person a car?

I have worked for a company that offered their sales representatives and marketing executives a company car. However, they were not luxury vehicles (Chevy Impalas or Crown Victorias) Some of the vehicles had the company's logo on the side.

Short answer, yes some companies do offer the employee a company car. The downside is that the bean counters at accounting will want to know the mileage put on that vehicle and will question the employee if they are surpassing the expected mileage per month.

1993-1999 Ford Crown Victoria with handling/performance package (dual exhaust, 16 inch rims, heavy duty suspension, etc.)

I like pick-ups too but since I live in NYC and size is somewhat of an issue for parking (you wouldn't know it because I currently drive a 1981 Olds Delta 88), but I would pass the full size models for a Ranger or a Chevy S10.

That's actually what I might get for my next car, a Chevrolet S10, extended cab-short bed, 4 cylinder, stick-shift, probably the most efficient RWD American vehicle made in the past 10 years.
