What is a good sports car around 10k?

Jacob Mart

I'm 17 and I'll be leaving for college after this year and I drive a 1999 ford ranger... I'm going to be getting a new car for college and I really want a sports car. I really like the Subaru WRX but I think it will cost too much. What about camarro mustang 350z? What is a good alternative sports car for around 10k?

Answer
Like the above person said those aren't really sports cars. But 10K can get you a lot of much more interesting real sports cars.
Such as these
The second generation toyota mr2 1989-1999
An early 1980s to 90s Lotus esprit s2 or s3
A pontiac fiero
A chevy corvette c4 1984-1989
An older honda s2000 1999 to 2003
A mitsubishi 3000 gt
A dodge stealth
or even a early 2000s porsche boxster

Of these the lotus is the most exotic, to people who don't know cars it could pass for a lamborghini. And with a top speed of 170 and a 0-60 time of 4.5 or so it drives almost like one too.
Also the more exotic cars on this list, the corvette the lotus etc, were likely somebodys second car, so most for sale will have under 50,000 miles.

under 6k? no earlier than 1980 used under 75k miles. any suggestions?

Answer
The Porsche 944 is a decent to good older sports car. The 944 varies from 2.7 L to 3.0 L and range from 167 HP to 247 HP depending on the model and make (S, Turbo, Turbo S). You can definitely find one for under 6k. I am not to sure about the mileage, since these cars are from the late 80s to early 90s. Most probably have a considerable amount of mileage, but due to your specifications most of the cars you find will have a good amount of mileage (otherwise they wont be below 6K). Overall the 944 is a great car, and plus its a Porsche and they make reliable cars (I'm not a fan-boy, its a true fact). Hope this helps.

Best low price 90s sports cars?

Jeff

looking to get a car to race around on the track.
I got all the Camaro's Mustang's, Corvette's and Trans am's, but is there anything else?
Cheaply priced, also say the year and make of the model.

Answer
Not sure what criteria you need to meet here. However, the Pontiac Grand Prix with the 3.8L supercharged puts out 240 HP stock. It is FWD though, if that makes a difference to you. It should be somewhat cheaper than the cars you mentioned but can compete with them speed-wise.

Also, if you go back to the 80s the IROC-Z Camaros had a great stock suspension package. Not sure what kind of track you are referring to, but this could be a plus. They should also be very reasonably priced if you can find one in good shape.

i have a 91 ford ranger right now and me and my mom are looking to sell that and get a new car. i was thinking about the 95-04 mustang but i dont really like the gas mileage, any help?

Answer
As far as cars in the 90s that are cheap but sporty only a mustang or a camaro. I know that you can sometimes find the camaros for extra cheap without too many problems.

Gas mileage is bad across the board to be honest, but the post 2000 mustangs are very nice and reliable cars. My cousins all own mustangs from that era (5 of them all with 1998-2004 mustang convertibles) and they do not have problems.

Again both the mustang and camaros are cheaper than many cars.

You can always just go for a lighter little sporty hatchback, what way you will have space like you are used to, but you will have more fun driving and get better mileage. I drive a toyota matrix xr and it is pretty fun considering.
