Ever since my pug was 2 months old she has been around my house and people are always over. She used to have no problem with people and never barked. I guess around 4 or 5 months old she started to bark like crazy and be stand offish and scared of any new people. ( i do have a chiuahua or however you spell it that is 7 yrs old and barks at people and trys to attack them so she may have gotten it from her) But she is so scared of anyone and when she barks i swat at her nose softly and she still barks like crazy. What can i do to have her be friendly with people?

Teach your dog a command like sit or down... then when it barks ... distract it by giving her the command.. NOW she has something else to do... another job. (smiles)
You may want her to bark at strangers if you are car jacked or a burgular breaks into your home... then it would be *Good Dog*... huh?
By punishing her with that swat - she will associate people with corrections...
stop it NOW.
In the sport I do = our dogs have to be people friendly but aloof with only caring about us... Or they can't pass the obedience/temporment/traffic test they have to go through in order to continue on in the sport...

Liberal educators don't believe in tests, or homework, or hurting anyone's feelings by giving them an F, when they FAIL
They don't believe in keeping score at sporting events, or expectations, or results...
Now we have a entire batch of losers, whining and stamping their feet on Wall Street that life is "so unfair" that they can't snap their fingers and get a 6 figure job, with 15 weeks of vacation, and work from home in the underpants.

When people who want success don't give a REAL try toward that success, they have no clue as to what it takes to attain that success. Instead of setting goals and reaching them, attaining that success through a series of baby steps and deferred gratification as opposed to instant gratification, they start getting jealous and whiny.
The streets of New York City are chock full of jealous whiners right now, and they think they'll achieve some kind of economic equality by crapping on people's cars and waving flags with pot leaves on 'em. Not only are they wrong, but they're inadvertently throwing an awful lot more support the GOP's way than they have any intention of.
