Since I am not into luxury SUVs too much, I looked into them at edmunds.com for you. The Audi Q7 is a great SUV, but is not very spacious and does not have DVD as an option.

I am trying to learn more about cars. And lets just say, I know next to nothing. I have learned a bit by surfing the web, but there is still a ton of information I would like to learn. Anyway, any information you could give me on the cars and what not would be awesome. and remember, I know next to nothing, so you may have to explain what "torque" and so forth means before you use it. Thanks a ton! You guys are the best!

anyway, I will look those cars up. I know how the basic engine works, intake of fuel and air through the camshaft into the engine where it is compressed then explodes and eventually causing the crankshaft to create a rotary motion that spins your tires. I know what carbon fiber is. I know the difference between a lambo mercialogo and gallardo. and how both are ridiculously expensive and dangerous. I know a good friend of mine loves his 300zx but wants a r34 skyline. I know people have a strange facination for supras and nsx's. I know the SSC Ultimate Aero is the fastest car in the world. I know I love riding in fast cars, and the feeling of going over 140 mph. Anything else you feel like sharing would be great. in depth or no. thanks guys :)

What is torque? Torque is essentially pulling power and/or acceleration off the line. The more torque you have, generally the better acceleration you have and the more weight you can carry/tow before the car starts to struggle. In imperial measurements, it's measured in pound-feet (lb-ft), and Newton metres (Nm) in metric.

What is GT? GT stands for Gran Turismo (translates from Italian to "Grand Touring"). These are top level sports luxury cars which usually have four seats and a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive configuration (where the engine is placed over the front wheels, and sends power to the rear wheels). These are things like Ferraris, Aston Martins, the Nissan Skyline GT-R, and Porsches.

What is a turbocharger? A turbocharger (Sometimes referred to as a "snail" due to the general shape of a turbo) is a device that increases the power of an engine by forcing more air into the engine, to sum it up briefly. Basically exhaust gases from the engine turn a fan (compressor) which draws in air and sends it into the "intake manifold" (which sends a mixture of fuel and air into the cylinders), resulting in more air being sent into the cylinders than a non-turbocharged car.

What is Nitrous? Nitrous Oxide (referred to by car fans as NOS, but more commonly known as the laughing gas used by dentists) is a chemical compound that forces more oxygen into the engine so it can burn more fuel and air. It acts as a temporary means of gaining a lot of power, on most systems you can see a temporary increase of 100 horsepower to the engine.

What is a supercharger? A supercharger is simply another way of doing a turbochargers job. Superchargers are driven by the engine as opposed to the turbocharger which uses exhaust gases emitted by the engine, but they increase power to the engine in a similar manner, ie. by sending more air into the cylinders.

What is a roll cage? A roll cage is a set of metal supports that are bolted into the interior of a car to increase rigidity/stiffness. They're mainly designed for racing cars to improve safety in the event of a rollover, but they also reduce body-roll and in general stiffen the car up so it can corner better and with more precision.

I will explain a few of the cars and why they are famous as well:

Nissan Skyline (R34 generation): The R34 Skyline is one of the most famous incarnations of the Skyline badge. It was developed in 1998-2002 and is probably most famous as a boy-racer's wet dream. Incredibly quick for what it had, but relatively cheap as well. However, they are very rare in America as they were not officially sold there and imports have stopped. They command quite a price tag now.

McLaren F1: Made in 1994, this was famous for being the fastest production car in the world, which was an award it held until 2005 when the Koenigsegg CCR beat it by a mere 1km/h.

Saleen: Saleen is an American tuning and supercar company that is most famous for its work on the Ford Mustangs and its Saleen S7 Twin Turbo supercar.

Toyota Supra: The Supra was a very legendary Japanese sports car. The JZA80, the last generation of it, is the most famous and regarded as one of the best Japanese sports cars in history.

Honda NSX: Commonly referred to as the Japanese Ferrari, this is widely regarded as one of Japan's only "real" supercars. Like the Skyline, it was cheap but very quick for its specifications, and not to mention it wasn't a bad looker either.

Nissan 300ZX, 350Z: The 300ZX was built in two generations and predominantly as a luxury car which is what the "X" in its name designated. This trend was started by the 300ZX's predecessor, the 280ZX. The 300ZX had two major trim levels: the Fairlady Z and the 2+2. The Fairlady Z was a 2-seater coupe whereas the 2+2 had two very small seats in the back row for some added practicality. Both versions had the option of non-turbo, single-turbo on the first generation (Z31), and twin-turbo on the second generation (Z32). The 350Z was the successor to the 300ZX and focussed more on sportiness rather than luxury. It had a larger motor than the 300ZX (although the twin-turbo versions of the 300ZX were actually faster), completely brand new styling and two major trims: Track and Touring.

Audi TT: The TT is a 2-door 2-seat coupe that was designed primarily as a sports-luxury car.

Dodge Viper: The Dodge Viper was first developed as a roadster in the late 80's where it became commonly known as the "Boulevard Dragster", mainly because it couldn't really take corners that well but had a huge amount of power on tap which gave it incredible straight-line performance. Now though the Viper SRT10 is an accomplished sports car that actually has the dynamic ability to back up that monstrous 8.4L V10 engine.

Mazda RX-7 and RX-8: These are mainly only unique because of their engines, which were "Wankel" rotaries, which did not use pistons like a normal car would; instead they used rotors, which got them the name rotaries.

Stingray: A trim level for the early generation Chevrolet Corvettes. The two most famous Stingrays are the C2 (1963-67) and the C3 (1969-78).

Koenigsegg CCX: A Swedish-built hypercar capable of a top speed of about 250mph. The CCX was the successor to the CCR which was the first car to finally knock the McLaren F1 off of its fastest production car perch.

I have a 1988 Nissan Skyline GXE with a few sound system trinkets thrown in. I'm going to throw some modifications on it soon but for now otherwise it's stock as a rock, with 271,000kms/168,000miles on the clock, and a 3.0L inline-6 putting out about 155hp (pretty weak now but it was good back in '88).

My current reasonably priced dream car is a 2004-05 Subaru Impreza WRX, much like the picture below, which was my mum's old example of this model car. All-wheel-drive, a 2.0L turbocharged flat-4 engine with a computer and exhaust system upgrade as well as new springs and a new set of wheels.

Q. I was looking a that vehicle online. Is there anything special that I should know about this vehicle? But I am considering more likely to purchase a used one. But I would like to know like if they are piece of sh*t, what type of gas do they need? Stuff like that.

When last we drove the Infiniti G35 Sport Coupe, we liked it better than the Nissan 350Z, whose platform and general form it shares, and speculated that a manual transmission would be more suited to this grand tourer's sport-luxury mission in life. Having just stepped out of a G35 Sport Coupe with a slick six-speed manual gearbox, we can happily pronounce that hypothesis to be correct.

The G35 Sport Coupe appeared in 2003 as Infiniti's first coupe in over a decade. Based on a stretched 350Z chassis, the G35 Sport Coupe offered rear-wheel drive performance, eyecatching styling and room for four adults, provided that two of them were reasonably athletic. For 2005, Infiniti has upgraded the G35 Sport Coupe's interior and offers up healthy performance and handling improvements for sports-minded drivers in the form of the G35 6MT Coupe.

Considering the usually upright competition from BMW and Mercedes, the G35 6MT Coupe stands out with sleek, laid-back design. The broad, horizontal-bar grille and stacked headlamps are similar to that of the G35 sedan, but the body is low and stretched taut over 19" wheels. It's a great-looking car, with smooth sides and elegant wrapped taillights. The G35 6MT Coupe features a trunk instead of a liftgate, to keep noise down. On the safety front, side and side-curtain airbags are standard. A few new colors are added to the palette as well. Xenon headlamps, a sunroof and LED taillights are part of the package as well.

Inside, visibility is better than you'd expect, but not as good as that of the full coupes. Front-seat passengers are treated to a dash with a choice of rosewood or aluminum trim and comfortable seats with awkwardly-located adjustment controls. The 6MT Coupe adds drilled aluminum pedals and a sport steering wheel, which are also available with an upgraded suspension package. Rear-seat passengers get more leg room than they might expect, but not a lot of headroom. The high driveshaft tunnel makes the G35 6MT Coupe a four-seater only. Sound systems are now MP3 capable, and heated leather seats are standard. Infiniti also offers a navigation system with a retractable 7" display.

For 2005, there are more differences between the manual and automatic transmission-equipped G35s than before. 6MT models, equipped with a six-speed manual transmission, also get an 18-horse bump in power, to 298. The power boost comes courtesy of electronic exhaust valve timing and some structural changes to the block. The G35 6MT Coupe's 3.5 liter V6 is a powerful, smooth engine, one of the best out there, and the increased output is more than welcome. The transmission has wonderfully short, direct throws, and only the Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) stability control system spoils the power when it jumps in to kill any wheelspin. Speed freaks with a few race classes under the belt will be happier with the VDC turned off. If you don't want to shift it yourself, the G35 Sport Coupe is also available with a five-speed automatic transmission.

The 6MT also features a Sport-Tuned suspension package, which enhances the aluminum-intensive multi-link suspension with larger wheels, a limited-slip differential and stiffer springs. The Sport-Tuned Suspension package is available on the automatic-equipped G35 Sport Coupe as well. Special "ripple control" shocks eliminate some of the harshness that's often found in sports couples. Handling is superb, with direct, immediate steering and excellent control through curves. We think the G35 6MT Coupe is a better real-world handler than the track-bred 350Z, at least in the Midwest where smooth freeways are a rarity. The G35 6MT' Coupe's longish wheelbase offers a ride that's less likely to be disturbed by a frost-shattered expansion joint. Infiniti's VDC is standard equipment.

With new colors and improved performance, the 2005 Infiniti G35 6MT Coupe is a strong entry in the growing "grand touring" segment. Pricing starts at $33,000. The automatic-equipped G35 Sport Coupe starts at $32,400.

I live in the North East, so I'll have to drive in the snow. I'm probably going to be racing it so I'm also looking for reliability. Also, I'm not really into the two seaters its kinda inconvenient. Please post any suggestions.

With a budget of $25,000 you should be able to find a "fast" car with ease. The Mustang GT is a fast car but the 2005-2008 did not have the best handling with their primitive solid rear axle, which was later improved in the 2010 model to the point where is beat the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS in lateral grip. The 2005-2008 Ford Mustang GT offered a 0-60 time of 5.7 seconds which is fast but not comparable to the other cars you list. The GTI is hardly fast, a 7 sec 0-60 time is hardly a great time and a FWD and racing do not go together. The WRX offered stellar performance at an affordable cost. The 2009 Model gives a 0-60 time of 4.8 sec and is around your budget ($24,995). The critically acclaimed Symmetrical AWD will give you the needed grip and traction during hard cornering or snow driving. The Nissan 350z offers superb performance at the cost of 2 less seats, so that will not be viable for you however the big brother of the 350z, the G35 coupe, offers grade A performance with the VVEL VQ35 engine. The G35 will jump to 60 in 5.4 seconds and the sport package will give the car monoforged 19in rims, sport tuned suspension, aluminum pedals, Sport brakes, Viscous Limited Slip Differential, etc.. This all added up to great performance, great traction and classic luxury Infiniti interior. The Mitsubishi Evo IX will give you the performance of the 2009 WRX but better. A 0-60 time of 4.7 sec, the legendary 2L turbocharged engine and road gripping Mitsubishi AWD. The Evo's rally heritage really shows but the only problem is the interior. in almost every comparison, the Evo has one, Evo IX vs WRX STi or the Evo X vs WRX STi. However in snow conditions the Subaru beat the Mitsubishi. Surprisingly there are a lot of cars that may suit you. With a budget like yours you should be able to buy a new car that will give you good performance or a used car that will give you great performance.
