Best sports car for under 30,000?

justdontkn

In everyones opinion whats the best car (preferably a sports car/2 door)to make an investment in that will be fast, have low maintinence, nice looking exterior AND interior etc. ? Im looking for something under $30,000.

Answer
No sports car is low maintenance. If you don't like the idea that dumping $1000 worth of tires into it every two years (or less, depending on your driving style) is considered basic upkeep, move along. However, if you don't mind expensive brakes, RWD (most likely), and the expensive service these cars require, you should have plenty of options. Granted, they're mostly going to be used cars, but to varying degrees.

Almost any slightly used (2003-2008) Mercedes AMG will destroy its BMW counterpart. BMWs are also notoriously unreliable and are simply not as well-built or powerful as Mercedes.

I personally do not care for the Audi lineup one bit but the TT is a sporty and inexpensive little coupe (or convertible). You can find a 2006-2007 for under $30,000. The 2008s are going for about $32,000 which can be haggled down with no problem. They are leftover stock and dealers just need to clear the lots at this point. They'll practically give them away.

The Mercedes SLK is not expensive either and a 2006 SLK55 AMG will run about $27,000 (search autotrader.com to see for yourself). Just keep in mind that the non-AMG version of the SLK isn't worth buying.

For under $30,000 you should also consider:
2007-2008 (maybe) Nissan 350Z
2008 Infiniti G37 coupe (not recommended)
2003-2004 Lexus SC430 (very sexy)
2006-2007 Saab 9-3 Aero convertible
2006-2007 BMW Z4
2003 Maserati Cambiocorsa (though it will not have inexpensive maintenance by any stretch of the imagination)
2005-2006 Cadillac XLR

Buying a sports car?

SImokin

Hello,

I have decided to purchase a sports car many months ago. After doing large amounts of research I have narrowed it down to the following cars.

Honda S2000
Nismo 350z
Evo 10 GSR

If someone has had experience with any of these cars please tell me:
1. how fun it is to drive
2. performace.
3. Reliability

Thanks

BTW

I am buying a new car.

Answer
They are all good cars, but if I were you I'd avoid the Mitsubishi. They have a bad resale value and are no where near as reliable as the Honda or Nissan. Also JD Power shows Mitsubishi dealer service satisfaction is among the worst. I looked at the cars you did, and ended up with a new Mazda Miata GT. I liked the handling better than any of the others. It's very comfortable, plenty fast, and I get just under 30mpg average. Just something to think about.

Going to be getting a new sport car.?

I have about a 10000 budget, and ive been looking at the following, 300zx tt, An eclipse( if i can find one for a bufget), a 1995-2004 mustang gt, A skyline (again if i can find a decent one in budget, A Mazda rx7. Those are a few ive looked at, any opiinions? how are they for speed and performance? what one would you sugest? and any other sugestions on othe cars are apreciated.
what one would be the fastest in a stop light race? what one on turns, and which ones are best for drifting?

Answer
The 300ZX is a wonderful car, but is a huge pain to do work on it.

An Eclipse would be ok, but make sure you have the transmission looked at before buying, they do have transmission problems.

A Mustang wouldn't be so bad, but since you are only going to pay 10K it will probably be high mileage.

If you live in the USA, then Skylines are not sold here. GT-Rs have only been sold in the USA. I've never personally seen a Skyline outside of the USA.

A RX-7, those are pretty old, you could probably buy a RX-8 with that money. The main problem with the RX's is that they are not fuel efficient, not by any means, ans the RX-7 is know for also burning oil, they are truly amazing cars. I just test drove a RX-8 and the handling was just amazing, but the rotary engine was keeping me back from buying it. I personally liked the 9K RPM redline in the RX-8, but again not worth the money.

If I were you, I would also look into a 240SX and really fix it up, those can be made into hella fast cars.

Good luck man

What makes these car brands diffrent from eachother?

Hi I am working a project about Germany's car brands, and I was wondering: "What makes these car brands different from one and another?" These are the brands that I'm working on:
Audi
Mercedes Benz
BMW
Opel
Volkswagen
Porsche
What makes these car brands different from each other in: Gas Millage Wise, Eco-Friendly Wise, Popular-Wise, and Efficient wise. I don't need to know the prices, of the brands. What makes each and individual of these brands special in their own way? Which one of these car brands do you prefer the most and why? Which one of these brands are the most popular in: Germany, the USA, or World Wide? If you could list the TOP 3 Out of the 6 brands that are given, which 3 would you pick?

Answer
Porsche is obvious. It started out making race cars only, then they made sports cars for production for the next 50+ years until they decided to make the Porsche Cayenne SUV out of nowehere and now the Panamera sedan.

Porsche makes the best German sports cars and some of the best sports cars in the world. Ignition keys are traditionally on the left side of the steering wheel because in the old days, car races started off on foot. The racers ran to their cars, got in, started the car and drove away. With the key on the left side, they were able to use their right hands to shift into 1st gear, saving them 1-2 seconds of time in the start of the race. Also, they typically use a lighter orange color for the interior lights.

Volkswagen. VW was created under order of Adolf Hitler, who wanted a peoples car to be used for everyone and everything including war. Volkswagen translates to peoples car. He ordered Ferdinand Porsche(later to create his own brand Porsche) to design a car that can float in water, is efficient, cheap, reliable, and light weight, therefore the Volkswagen Beetle, or Bug, was born. VW made the Beetle for at least 30 years with virtually an unchanged design, much like Jeep did with the Wrangler. The 1970's made them more popular because of certain cars. The VW Van or bus, which was popular with hippies, and the VW Rabbit and Rabbit GTI(now known as Golf GTI). The Rabbit/Golf came to be known as one of the worlds best selling cars and Europes top selling car in the 2000's. The GTI is considered the original hot hatch. Because of it, cars like the Honda Civic Si, Mazdaspeed 3, Nissan Sentra SE-R, and Lancer Ralliart exist today. During a time of the oil crises, the Rabbit GTI was the solution for muslce cars. Lightweight, nimble handling, small engine, good speed. Today, Volkswagen is one of the most modified cars in the world with the largest fanbase. Most modified Volkswagens are Golfs and Golf GTI's. VW later bought Audi, Lamborghini, Bugatti, Seat, and some of Porsche. At this time, Volkswagen is #2 as the largest car company in the world. In the U.S., they are not as popular. But in Europe and Germany, they are very popular.

BMW uses dark orange interior lights. BMW was a motorcycle company and made smaller cars like the BMW Isetta. Later on, they started getting involved in racing and created more luxurious premium cars and the BMW M division of high performance cars. They are well known for being some of the sportiest luxury cars with their renowned hanlding and steering feel. Every BMW car ever made has the same lima beans front grill, their trademark design. The M division of BMW is what really made them famous.

Audi is well known for the Quattro. The Quattro is the first All Wheel Drive car and the first AWD car used in Rally races. The AWD system was named after the car so now it is called Quattro AWD. Because of Audi, cars like the Subaru Impreza WRX STI and Mitsubishi Lancer Evo exist. Audi is famous for having the best AWD systems and best interiors in terms of ergonomics. Everything is in the right place. All of their cars are luxury cars with engines developed for some performance and speed.

Mercedes Benz. Karl Benz is the founder of Mercedes Benz and the inventor of the gasoline engine. He created the first gas powered car. At that time in the 1800's, cars were powered by steam engines. Ever since then, Mercedes have been cars offered with the latest and newest technology. Being the first German brand and the most luxurious and expensive brand for many years made it a popular well known brand.

I don't know much about Opel except that is it owned by GM, an American company, and that Opel do not sell many cars. They do not sell any cars at all in the U.S. But the Saturn Sky and Pontiac Solstice is a copy of the Opel GT.

For me:
1. Porsche
2. VW
3. Audi
4. BMW
5. Mercedes
6. Opel
