I'm turning 16 soon, and I have a price limit of $20,000 and I'm pretty sure my parents want me to get a used car .
I want a small SUV but I need good gas millage because I live 18/19 miles away from my school.
Some of the cars I like are the Jeep Liberty Sport, Nissan Rogue, Hyundai Tucson, and then I also love Mini Coopers even though they aren't SUVs.

For starters, buy a domestic car. I think they're better lol. What kind of traffic are you in? If you're in a big city (Dallas/Ft. Worth for instance) I'd definitely buy an SUV/Truck because you're safer in case of a wreck. I'm 19 and my 2 cars have both been trucks. My current one gets 21 mpg on the highway. (It's a 2010 Ford F-150 with a 4.6L 3V engine FYI, and I bought it for $22,700). THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART. Get a vehicle that still has warranty on it. I bought my truck with 4 years/48,000 miles left on the warranty. And I've needed it (something that was actually my fault but couldn't be proven so they put it on warranty). And buy a vehicle that you can have worked on nearby. I'm from a small town that only has Ford, GMC, and Chevy dealerships. If you live in a town like that, then buying a Toyota or something like that is a bad idea because you will have to leave town to get repairs done. Also, look at insurance costs. A $20,000 vehicle is going to cost you some money to insure. I'm a guy so it cost me my right arm and half of my leg lol.
