Honda S2000 vs. Infiniti G35?

I'm going off to either NC state or UNC charlotte (need help deciding) and my mother is buying a car, but i can't decide if I should get the Honda or Infinite. Which would be the best choice in maintence, longativity, and cheap repairs.

I personally adore my G35 but it's costly. It doesn't get good mileage and you can only use premium. I wouldn't trust anyone with maintenance but the dealership and they rob your wallet. If you're worry about cheap repairs then you can cross the G35 off your list. The good news is G35 is known for its reliability and rarely have any problems. It rank in the top 10. If you could afford the car then you should be able to afford keeping that car healthy for a long lasting high performances.

If you are a college freshman or never live on campus then let me give some advices. Don't bring a nice car to school. I seen so many nice luxury cars get trashed and keyed on campus. There are a lot stupid or jealous college kids out there regardless of what school you go to. My best friends' BMW M3 and Infiniti FX just got completely trashed last weekend and now I'm scare for my G35.

Depending on how much cash you have after taxes (don't forget about those) I would probably buy myself a Lexus LS (there is a new one coming out this fall; the LS460) but if you don't like the traditional luxury the LS provides then you should look into acquiring an Aston Martin or perhaps a Maserati Quattroporte. (Italian for 4 Door) Both are in the $90,000+ price range and are excellent and not so obvious ways to display wealth and class. I'm partial to the Maserati actually. It has Ferrari engineering (Ferrari owns Maserati) but it has the practicality of a 4 door sedan.

You could also look into a Jaguar XJR or an XK8. Or perhaps a Mercedes Benz SL500, but that's the obvious ride and if you want to be different the Maserati Quattroporte with its limited production run of around 5,000 copies a year is the way to go.

I think Charlotte has a Maserati dealership. So does Greensboro, NC. Getting your car serviced may be an issue if you do not live near the Maserati dealer in your region.

Should I keep a 2001 VW Beetle with 80,000 miles or a 2000 Volvo S40 with 150,000 miles?

I have the luck of deciding between two cars. They are both free to me, so cost is not an issue. I know that the Volvo is a better car to start with, but is it better with so many miles on it?

Both are in comparable physical condition.

The Volvo has an engine in it that only has 70,000 miles on it because it was in an accident in 2004.

The bug is a base model and has had very little work done to it. I had to put $3,000.00 into it earlier this year for a fuel problem and spark plugs. I took it to the dealer in Charlotte and I am pretty sure that they ripped me off.

I would prefer the Volvo because it is a luxury car and has heated seats, a sun roof, CD player, and cruise control. The bug does not have any of this stuff.

What car do you think I should keep?

i've worked with both dealerships in service, they are both safe cars different feel of ride on road. volvos are very much like a truck feel all road.
they both can be high maintenance vehicles but u just dropped 3grand so i'd say keep the vdub. besides u just had the timing belt changed and waterpump and all the belts plus whatever you originally sent it in for.
your dub is running optimal right now and no other problems or concerns were found or you would no. sooo... save the dough cuz u just spent sum.
and volvo service is even more costly..

A Volvo, when properly cared for, will get you through hundreds of thousands of miles. I've heard of some of them getting upwards of 400,000 miles. My father currently has a 2001 S80 with 200,000. I just got my '05 S40 with about 40,000 six months ago, so I can't say how well the S40 holds up, but so far I've had no problems.

A Beetle is going to have many more quirky problems. I've owned a VW ('95 Jetta) and can tell you from experience it get to be the biggest pain to fix the same things repeatedly (like the fuel pump three times in three years.)

I have no idea what the guy who said Volvo is folding is talking about. Yes, all car companies are having problems, but Volvo is not going under.
