Is the Mercedes ML 350 2006 model considered a luxury car?

Gal in red

Answer
For many of us, a Luxury car is the kind of car a head of state uses. Not an SUV, not a Sportscar. They might be as expensive and well built, but they are not the same thing.

I think the ML is a great SUV.

Is the 2006 650i convertible a good car?

Answer
German luxury cars are sold with prepaid maintenance packages. this eliminates any quality concerns because even if something does go wrong, the buyer won't really notice the price (most of the time when you just need basic service you end up paying a bit more with the package but if something goes bad your savings are huge)
when these prepaid periods end, the cars maintenance costs start to get very high.
this is why many people who own expensive cars like these often switch cars. it's far easier to sell the used car and get a new one to not have to deal with any possible very expensive repairs. this is part of what makes these cars lose their value so much.
a 2006 car is going to be past its prepaid period. the car might be great. chances are it was well cared for by the previous owner and if the car is great you won't see any reliability issues. sure regular maintenance will be expensive but you can prepare for that. what's hard to prepare for is when things start to break. when things break on these cars and you don't have the dealership handle it automatically the costs can be astronomical. I really hope that if you are considering this car you check out ownership forums for repair prices so you get an idea of how much trouble you could find yourself in. after you do that, if you are still somewhat interested, find a BMW mechanic to inspect the car thoroughly. this will give you an idea of the conditions in which it's in. if the looks good and you are not put off by the maintenance and repair costs then you can get into whether the car is good or not. personally, i think it's a bit lacking. the engine on the 650 cant match a modern mustang GT. this car is basically a luxury mustang. better in a straight line than corners, luxury interior, and small rear seats, and relatively similar weight. (an actual 2013 mustang GT convertible will be able to beat you in a straight line drag race btw)
the car is pretty cool for what it is but it may be severely overpriced. personally I would not pay over $20,000 for such a car. I know that $20,000 is a good deal for this level of luxury and performance but the maintenance costs on the car will be high and that money needs to come from somewhere.

Best used four-door luxury car for teenager?

exoticcar2

I've been driving with a permit for about 10 months now, I'll be 16 in two months, and my parents are already about to purchase a vehicle for me. I was thinking about a 2003 BMW 325i, 2006 Audi A4, or Jaguar X-Type. About how much is the insurance on these vehicles? Also, is there another vehicle you recommend for a first car?

Answer
I do not understand why you would want luxury when the necessity is barely met. Instead of buying a used luxury car with TONS of miles on them, why not just buy a BRAND NEW basic car? A Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla would do.

With the used luxury car, you will wreck it within the first year, bumping into poles and stuff. By the second year, parts will start breaking due to the high mileage of the car. By the third year, you will want to buy yet another car because the exterior is cosmetically wreck due to your poor driving, the internal parts will costs too much to fix, could even be more than how much the car is worth. In the end, you end up with nothing.

With a new basic Honda civic for example, you can wreck all you want because after all it's only a civic. With such a reliable car, you can put tons of miles and it would still be running. Even if it were to break down, the price to maintenance would be 1/3 of the luxury car.

Trust me, I've been through it!

Why are you impressed by luxury cars?

When millions of people on our planet are dying for lack of food and water, who can be impressed by some person dramatically overspending when they can buy comparable items for less. Why don't you see this is a greedy, self-important, nobody who thinks a $500, tax-deductible, yearly donation to some local charity makes them a good person. Why can't they see their car advertises the fact that they are doing less than what they can for the suffering. Why can't they see how big a difference they could make by using their resources to make this world a better place, not to compete with the neighbors. There is no competition, the poor don't care what you drive and they are the majority. Feed a million starving babies today, sell your Hummer for a Tahoe.

My Ford F-150 is hotter than ANY car and it cost a reasonable amount of money. Overspending means overcompensating......are you short somehow? Be confident in yourself, cool people don't need to advertise.

Answer
Its because of your beleif...to some earthly luxury pleases them. To others, its a waste and futile exercise. Not all man are created equal,,,
