Does an 8-cylinder sports car like a Camaro Z28 REALLY have better gas mileage than a 4-cylinder GMC Sonoma???

coreyrules

I'm getting these repsonses saying that the manuafacutres lied about the gas mileage and that it's too small of an engine to give good gas mileage to a truck that weighs 3,100 lbs.

So with an 8-cylinder having 305 hp for a car that weighs 3,500 lbs., this means that I'd be getting like 25 MPG for the highway, as opposed top the Sonoma's 18 MPG, am I right?

Answer
gas mileage depends on the year but yes the camero probably does get better gas milage because of the power to weight ratio that it has. the camero's being 11:1 (hp:lbs) while the sonoma that probably weights about as much but only get around 150 hp out of the 4 banger which would give it 23:1 so you would be using more gas to get you truck going that the camero uses. Also depends on turning my dodge v-10 truck has about the same engine as the viper but the viper gets twice the gas mileage and more power even though they weight the about the same.

Trucks made for pullin', cars made for goin'

Best Gasoline for 4 cylinder car?

Gary

What is the best type of gasoline to buy for a 4 cylinder car with 20k mile on it?

Answer
Regular unleaded. Premium is not necessary unless you have a high compression engine(if you have an import sports car). If your car says to use Premium, use it, but if it just says unleaded, its best to use unleaded. Most people think that premium is cleaner and produces more power, but its used in sports cars with high compression to prevent knocking and preignition, which can damage your engine.
