Both being manual..also if the eclipse is tuned more, but the infiniti is stock
Answer
Well, as long as you don't do all kinds of drag-increasing visual modifications, the gsx will return pretty good mileage with a 2.0 and a 5-speed. I have a '95 Neon that gets between 22(beating the crap out of it) and 40(highway all the way) MPG. The Eclipse is a little larger and has a bit more drag naturally, but with a turbo and a 5-speed, it should still get 30-35 at the way-top-end. This is assuming you don't put on a 3-foot spoiler, body kit and roof scoop. None of which will do any good unless you're track racing, and even then the body kit and roof scoop are useless, and the spoiler next-to-useless.
But not knowing exactly WHAT mods the gsx has, how much HP, or how aggressive the tuning is, I honestly can't say what kind of mileage it would get. Agressive mods, 200/300-plus hp, you might get 30, but likely it'd be less because the car would need fuel-system modifications. Most of your power would have to be made in the air system and driveline for your fuel mileage to stay the same. Better transmission, smoother limited-slip or locking differential, lighter-weight and more-efficient pulleys and gears, etc would get you a little more power while making your engine run more efficiently. But once you start trying to get huge hp numbers you start using forced-induction mods that up the boost in your turbo or swap it for a larger one, and adding higher-flow fuel injectors and lines. This starts eating up the gas and digging into your wallet. It's best to just keep it simple with more efficient components.
The Infiniti I know little about, aside from that it's a 6-cylinder car and from a luxury-ish brand. So it probably won't get great mileage, but probably not horrible either if it's got a 5- or 6-speed manual. Probably high 20's, maybe 30.
Initial cost, I'd bet the Infiniti would be more expensive, being from a luxuryish brand. Maintenance, i would bet that the Eclipse would be more expensive. While it's commonly said you can't kill a Neon 2.0, you CAN break things in the engine with repeated abuse. Yours, though, would probably be the DOHC 2.0. Those are known for breaking timing belts, and when you start upgrading, they sometimes get 'cam walk' (Google it), so get on a DSM forum if you get the Eclipse and they will already have covered the subject extensively, so they can talk you through it.

why do land rovers have such a bad rep?
You know n
i have loved rovers every since i was little. i loved the beauty of the car. i always knew id get one day. i found my baby on December of 2012. the price was decent for a land rover discovery 2004. the guy selling me the car was nice enough to let me take it to the mechanic to see if it need fixing. he even let me drive it there, i used the high way and let me say it made me fall in love with this car even more. its everything i wanted and it was such a good price. yes the car had leaks that needed to be fixed, but every car has problems. my question is why do land rovers have such a bad reputation? i hear so many people calling it a piece of shit car, but why? besides the gas it eats up, and the leaks which every car gets, whats wrong with it? does it break down fast? btw i live in new york i go to school and work, it takes up 15 to 25 minutes of my time if i drive. and i go to see my boyfriend its about 35 minute drive. i dont find this car so hard to maintain. can anyone explain to me why this car is so terrible without just saying its shitty? thank you :)
Answer
first of all the mpg sucks on all models. regardless if it offers luxury features and off roading abilities. Land Rovers are just too expensive to maintain and use as an everyday vehicle. Also since it's an imported vehicle the repairing and maintenance can be very expensive due the fact that the Jaguar Land Rover Manufacturing plant is in Europe. Good offroading car but overall mpg is so BAD, EXPENSIVE to repair/maintain.
